Puppedential Debate: Which Dog Will Obama Choose?

In a segment he called "Road to the Doghouse," Jon Stewart reports on the Puppedential Debate CNN had. Anderson Cooper moderates fabulously, asking all the crucial questions (Who's a good doggie?).

Mirror, Mirror Kitty

Why buy toys for your kitten when you can just plop him in front of a mirror with a pair of your shoes? Hours of entertainment!

He's got a friend in the mirror (who he's slightly scared of) and a place to hide in the shoes. What more could a kitty ask for?

Siren Dog - Sound the Alarm!

If you let Oscar the boxer hang his head out the window of you car and let him siren-ate (Is that a word? Sure.) like this, I'm pretty sure people would slow and move to the right to get out of your way.

If I'm late for work, I want him in my car. If I (ever) go into labor and have to rush to the hospital, I want him in my car. If I'm just really hungry and can't get to McDonald's fast enough, I want him in my car.

Plus, he makes the cutest faces doing it...

Sad News... the White House Cat Died

OK, so it's not technically a "cute" thing, but we did just want to pass along that the Bush's pet cat, India, died today.

India was 18 years old, and according to her bio, she loved to stay and inside and visit the White House Library. Her favorite book was If You Take a Mouse to the Movies by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond.

R.I.P. cute kitty!

Best Friends: A Dog and an Elephant

When retired elephants end up in this sanctuary in Tennessee, they always end up picking out a special friend to hang out with. Most pick another elephant, but not Tarra... Tarra's best friend is Bella, a dog.

The two have stuck together for years now, the sanctuary founder says. They play together, eat together, drink together -- Bella the dog even lets Tarra pet her tummy... with her giant elephant foot!

Through good and tough times, these two stick by each other's side. You'll love the story!

Catching up with Michael Vick's Dogs...

Sports Illustrated did a little catching up with some of Michael Vick's pitbulls -- and I'm so happy for them! The story was awful; the man is even more awful... but it looks like a happy ending for some of the poor doggies!

Wow. This is one of those pictures that just really touches you.

Looking at it, I'm a little sad and a little happy all at the same time. It's a heart-breaking picture that shows so much love.

Great, great shot. It's tough to see homeless pets -- not that it isn't tough to see homeless people, too, it's just that the pets can't do anything about it... I hope they have a nice, warm comfy place to sleep for cold nights.

UPDATE: I just did a little more reading and, as it turns out, this man's family was looking for him for almost two years. They saw this photo, and posted a comment asking for help finding him -- and they are now reunited! Makes the story even better. :)

Sneaky Raccoon Steals Door Mat

Some people are scared of raccoons, what with all the rabies and scabies and garbage-eating tendencies... but I think they're cute. In fact, if I this was happening in my house, I'd watch it go down, too, and gladly let the guy run off with my welcome mat.

What is he planning on doing with it anyway? Maybe he's redecorating his burrow (where do raccoons live?). Clearly, though, we underestimate a raccoon's sneakiness...
