If you have kitties, you surely have some extra cat hair lying around... Probably a lot of extra cat hair. Normally you'd vacuum or lint-brush it, right? Not anymore!
Cat hair is the latest crazy in arts and crafts, and Cute is giving you a chance to win a copy of the book "Crafting With Cat Hair: Cute Handicrafts to Make With Your Cat!"
This fun book shows readers how to transform stray clumps of fur into soft and adorable handicrafts. Originally published in Japan in 2009 and featuring 9 distinct projects—from kitty tote bags and finger puppets to fluffy cat toys, picture frames, and more—this charming book is perfect for any cat lover, crafter or crafter who loves cats!
Sounds kind of fun and silly, doesn't it? My favorite is the finger puppets -- I can't wait to make little puppets of Pimp and Moo!

LOL. My kitties are fur factories. What a great way to recycle!
ReplyDeleteOur family for CREATED specifically for this giveaway!! My sister & I share a house, and between both of us, we have 8.....count'em 8....cats, and all indoors. We have 2 black - 1 short, 1 long hair. Also in our clan is one cow cat, and one white cat, with black & copper markings on her head and tail only. In the orange category we have 1 of all kinds - pick your fur length, get your fur length: short, medium, or long. And then, there's our extra-luvy-chubby "Clover Michael", who at almost 37 pounds can almost give us a stuffed gallon bag of fur every-other-day when we totally FURminate him. I have already given my sister, who has cancer a few bags of his fur, which she knows how to process so it doesn't smell like "cat" anymore, but couldn't think of what she could create with this unending resource in our house. But one of the things that she does to support herself during this battle are to hand make articles for craft fairs - and one of the things she already creates are FINGER PUPPETS, how how incredibly cool would it be to actually have her kitty puppets really made of kitty fur!!! And then, with the instructions from this great book, she could greatly enlarge her furry section - and WOW - talk about 1 of a kind gifts!!! She'd have absolutely NO competition on this product line. With the combo of her own originality, coupled with the incredible ideas from this book, and the never ending fur-supply from all of our furkids there's absolutely no way we could loose.....and the best part, FINALLY after 1 zillion years, my kids could start supporting themselves!! Think of what that would do for their self-esteem!!
ReplyDeleteMy sweetie is a tabby kitty, so he has a mixture of black and gray along with some white white as well.
ReplyDeleteMy little miss Moxie is grey tabby, with light grey, dark grey, and white (okay, really light grey!!!), but she has ginger stripes in there, as well. And a ginger (er, orange) and white ascot on her throat! It's almost as though she has a whole 'nother cat there -- Jekyll and Hyde, kitty cat style!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have 2 black adopted cats. Brother(his name) is a short hair sleek cat and his sister(her name) is a pretty long hair bundle of cute.
ReplyDeleteI create with cat hair all the time, you should see my favorite chair!!!
ReplyDeleteMy boys have almost the same brown and black coloring. Lenny is just a bit darker than Benny!
ReplyDeleteWe are all black and white here, which could make for some very neat crafts. This book sounds great!
ReplyDeleteMy Sundance is Black with a white tux, 3 white feet, (one is ony two toes really.) But he also sports a back left long white boot! I comb him most days when I get the chance and the undercoat that comes out in the comb is a sort of browny colour - bet you good stuff cushions with it!
ReplyDeleteYea - Cat cushions better than down.
Oh my gosh - I can't believe it! For years I said I should make something (like a sweater) out of all of the beautiful clumps of multi-colored Tortoiseshell fur that my Cleo would lose. She was a total fur factory - her thick medium length hair would have made beautiful crafts. She is gone now (lost her in June of this year after 17 years of wonderful companionship).
ReplyDeleteLana and Deenie are sisters I adopted from a rescue shelter last year. Two beautiful black cats with just a sprinkle of white on their lower bellies.
ReplyDeletePerry has a beautiful, soft black coat with brown undertones, and stunning green eyes. She's the kitten love of my life!
ReplyDeleteMunch is an adorable, mostly white cat with a brown calico pattern on his head, one rear leg, and part of his tail. What's awesome is, he manages to have pure white paws -- but the pads on each foot are each different colors...brown, black, and pink...to match his precious, pink nose!
ReplyDeleteYay! With four cats I stand a good chance here. Thanks!! My Gaijin, my first pet, is a gray tabby.
ReplyDeleteThe second cat I got was Phoenix - Gaijin was so lonely! She's a tuxedo. It looks like someone poured a can of black paint on her because her belly is all white. :-)
ReplyDeleteThen we got Crosby, who is a ginger tabby. He's a 13-pound kitty, very vocal and sweet.
ReplyDeleteAnd then finally we adopted Graffiti. He's all a dark shade of gray, with white socks and a white triangle on his chest. It seems as if he's wearing a gray coat over his white fur. So cute. As you can see, we have lots of cat fur here to produce all sorts of cat-fur products. :-)
ReplyDeleteAbbi is a champagne Burmese.
ReplyDeleteShia is black, gray, and white.
Aleah is black with a small tuft of white fur on her chest.
Pumpkin is orange and white.

NOW I CAN BRUSH HER EVERDAY AND SHE HAS TONS OF LONG BLACK HAIR. FUR IS ALMOST ALL GROWN BACK, SHE COMES FOR HER DAILY HYGIENE HELP. AND FUR WOW I COULD PROBABLY MAKE A SWEATER.

ReplyDeleteCongrats to the description of your precious Lady Espresso. Only a poet could have said it better.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in my life, I have only one cat, because my retirement complex allows only one pet per apartment. But over my years I have had a rainbow of cats, and if I had fur from each of them, I would weave it into a furry path to that Rainbow Bridge that many of them have crossed, and that, sooner or later, we all will use to find our friends again. AnnE

ReplyDeleteJenny Any Dots is Radar's sister and she is an orange 'strippy' tabby kitty. She loves to nap on her back with feet in the air.
ReplyDeleteLucy, is a white kitty with a calico tail and a few spots on her head and by her tail. She turned up on our door step one day, slept in my arms most of the day. We tried to find her owner, but they were not looking for her. Our first clue was the missing flea collar. She very seldom leaves the yard and has been very happy with us for the last 5 years.
ReplyDeleteEclipse is a pure black cat that I rescued when someone dumped him and his sister in the Nature Center's woods. He is such a joy and has great manners. When he wants food put in his bowl, he "fetches" me, then goes and sits by his bowl while I pour the food in.

Remember the commercial on tv of the crazy cat lady taking her cats fur into the store to match the paint? It was supposed to be sarcastic but I thought 'what a great idea'! Heh heh...
ReplyDeleteI am lucky enough to volunteer at the friends of feline rescue center - so all colors of fur are available! This sounds like a great way to recycle for toys or possibly a fund raiser -(as funds are always needed) I personally have 5 cats - Black and Brown tiger fur here at home !

ReplyDeleteI had no idea that there was crafting book for cat fur. My idea was to take fur from each of my 4 cats, make yarn out of it and then craft there name with their fur. WOW this book will give more ideas.
