Cat Catches Treats in Her Mouth

Zoe the cat has the most talented treat-eating technique I've ever seen -- she catches them in her mouth!

Her mom tosses her a treat and she just chomps at the air and somehow actually catches it in her mouth. No paws needed! Her favorites are Temptations chicken-flavored.

Kitties, don't try this at home...

Paws for Japan - A Day to Help Japan's Animals

Today is Paws for Japan. Please read and see how you can help...

Imagine losing everything. Your home, your things, your life as you know it. It's unthinkable. But at least you'd be able to act, to find a way to make it through...

The animal victims aren't necessarily so lucky.

Pets abandoned or lost. Stories of reunions between people in Japan with their dogs and cats are trickling through to us, and I'm clinging to each and every one. I can only imagine how incredibly, ridiciculous, unfathomably happy I would be if I had lost everything... but my cats. If you found my cats, if you brought them to me, if you cared for them -- I wouldn't care about my house or my things. My PETS are what's important.

The video above lists several organizations that could use our help. Backed by BlogPaws Be the Change for Pets, Paws for Japan is also supporting World Vets, a group who is closely tied to BlogPaws and is deploying to Japan and support their animal aid efforts.

Our goal is huge -- save them all -- but every single dollar helps. If you can spare just a few, I know it will make a difference. They need food, medical care, shelter, love. They need everything right now.

As pet lovers, let's rally together to make a difference.

I know we don't need encouraging, but as a special thank you for your donation, every single person who donates, please forward me your receipt or receipt ID from your ChipIn payment and attached a picture of your pet.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO DONATES WILL GET A DAY AS THE FACE OF CUTE.

Just let me know that you did by emailing dorian (at) yourdailycute.com -- and don't forget to include your pet's picture. I'll post a calendar as soon as I can so you'll know what day yours is.

I wish I could give enough to save them all. I can't. But I can thank you for helping. Please help us spread the word.

If you are looking to donate and the ChipIn widget is not working, you can try again later or donate directly to World Vets. It all goes to help the animals either way!

Playing Footsie with the Kitty

Isaac the cat is quite the charmer. He knows all the moves to woo the ladies... like playing footsie.

Everyone knows this is how you show someone you like them, right? You just reach out a toe (or paw) and, well, we'll let Isaac demonstrate how it's done.

P.S. Don't forget tomorrow is Paws for Japan. Cute and other pet bloggers are rallying together to raise money and support to help the animal victims of Japan's tsunami. There will also be a Pawpawty on Twitter using the hashtag #pawsforjapan. However you can join in, please do! More info on the Help Japan tab up top and the donation widget is on the right side. Thank you!

In My Heaven, Every Animal Has a Home

When I close my eyes and think of the most perfect place in the world, I am surrounded by purring, happy cats. They are all healthy, they are all well-fed, and they all have homes and families to love and spoil them.

None of them are out on the street, fending for morsels or scraps, and none of them are in cages, waiting as the days pass for the lucky day when someone doesn't pass them by and they get a forever home.

This is almost like heaven to me... They just all need homes! (Picture of me passing out treats at Animal Aid in Boca Raton, FL by Sonju Photography.)

In my heaven, cats like Knight, my absolute favorite cat at Cats Exclusive, don't have to stay in a cage by themselves just because they have urine crystals and it's the only way to be sure he only eats his special food to make sure he stays healthy. No, if I had my dream, Knight would have an entire home to lounge around and play in, a whole family to show off his loving, incredibly cuddly personality -- and it wouldn't matter that he's black and "boring" or that he's special needs. He'd be perfect in their eyes.

Me and Knight. Look at that face... How does he not have a home yet?

In my heaven, best friends like Lenox and Diamond wouldn't have to hop from foster home to foster home, never settling and always readjusting. Lenox is completely blind and Diamond, who only has one eye himself, is his seeing-eye friend. They are very, very special and obviously need a special home. These two are currently living with a friend of a friend, but she can't keep them forever, and they deserve a permanent place to get to know and get the love from.

Lenox and Diamond. Someone step up and make them yours.

In my heaven, all pets would be spayed and neutered, so there wouldn't be such a huge number of dogs and cats waiting to be adopted. There wouldn't be any homes or apartments that don't allow pets (No pets, no deal, if you ask me!). Every cat would have their own personal catnip garden and every dog would have a backyard full of hidden bones.

In my heaven, everyone loves animals and treats them with respect. There are no horror stories of animal abuse or neglect.

In my heaven, everyone knows just how much better pets can make our lives, and they tell all their friends, who tell their friends, who tell their friends... and before we know it, everyone has a fluffy kitty or a playful doggie waiting for them at home everyday.

Let's make today one day closer to my heaven. Today is Petfinder.com's 15th birthday, and to celebrate, they're making today Adopt the Internet Day. The goal is to spread the word about adoption and hopefully inspire some people to give homes to the thousands of pets waiting patiently for someone to love them.

Won't you help me spread the word? Let's make our world a little slice of heaven today!

Some of Cute's Faves from the Fresh Step Cat Video Contest!

Hey Cuteheads! Just a quick reminder that the Fresh Step® cute cat video contest is ending soon, so if you wanted a chance to get your kitty in a real TV commercial, get your video entered on their YouTube page ASAP!

Remember I entered Moo watching the Kitty Halftime Show? I'd love to see him on TV! Not that he isn't famous already, of course...

I was taking a look at some of the entries (I could look at them all day, I think -- nothing but silly cat videos!), and I noticed that Daisy the Curly Cat's brother Harley was entered for his "Harley Hates Wrinkles" video. I love that one! I am pretty sure it was featured on the Cute before, but here it is if you haven't seen it yet...

I also came across this one of a kitty named City who knows exactly where his mom hides the catnip stash. I'm sure they have learned to keep his NIP a little more stashed from now on...

There are a bunch of other fun ones. Can't wait to see who wins! And be sure to let me know if you enter so we can check out your video! :)

In full-disclosure, this post is part of a sponsorship campaign with Clorox’s Fresh Step Cat Litter’s YouTube contest in coordination with Lijit Networks, Inc. What Cats Are Really Thinking

Do you ever think about what your pets are thinking when you talk to them and fuss over them and stick that flashy-box in their faces all the time?

Well, finally we know, thanks to this cute and insightful video. It's an oldie, but a goodie. Enjoy!

Notes from Cute: Bunch of stuff coming up!

Tomorrow is Petfinder's 15th birthday and they're doing Adopt the Internet Day. Cute is participating, and you're welcome to as well! Click the banner on the right for info.

Thursday the 17th, pet blogs across the Internet are rallying together for "Paws for Japan" to raise money for animal victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami. Get the details here. It's going to be backed by BlogPaws Be the Change for Pets. Please click the "Help Japan" tab up top to get the badge and more info on how to participate.

And let's not forget it's "Face of Cute" Monday on Cute's Facebook page! Post your cute pet pics all day and one will get to be the face of YourDailyCute.com for the next week (like Charles is right now!).

Baby Squirrel Gets a Little Boost

This is the story of a momma squirrel and her baby trying to climb over a wall. The baby was having trouble, and got a little boost from the kind-hearted people watching.

The comments say this took place over about 20 minutes. The mom and baby squirrel kept trying again and again, until help came from an unlikely place.

It's videos like this that make me love people! I would have done the same thing, and I'm sure many of you would have, too.

Thanks to Cute's Facebook friend, Julianne, for sharing this cute squirrel video!
