But what if it actually smelled kind of good? Like lavender.
Oh, yes. It can! It's true! I have no idea why no one ever thought of this before, but the folks at World's Best Cat Litter (which Pimp and Moo have been using for a long time) came out with a lavender-scented version.
When they asked us if we wanted to try it, I'm not even sure if I took a breath before saying YES! Actually, I was probably more excited about cat litter than anyone should be. It's the little things, kitty people, right?
You guys can get to try it, too! Scroll down for how to enter the contest!
Anywhos, this litter actually smells good! I kind of mixed it in slowly over a week into the regular litter so that Pimp and Moo could ease their way into it. Cats are finicky, you know, so a change in smell might not have been as exciting for them all at once.
But as it turns out, no problems switching over at all! And now the bathroom where their little boxes are always kind of smells a little lavendery (to be fair, when it smells like poop, it still smells like poop, but the lavender scent does kind of waft into the air when they dig around to cover it).
I don't know what Moo is doing here, but I think he's meowing and licking his chops, too. Lavender is yummy!
So, basically, I love it. World's Best Cat Litter is all natural, so that's great. And the lavender is just a touch of lavender oil added, so that's natural, too. Still safe for the kitties!
Want to win some to try? Here's how!
Us humans like the smell of lavender, but what are you kitty's favorite smells? Pimp loves the smell of cooking chicken. Whenever I'm cooking, he plops in front of the stove and just rolls around in sheer bliss sniffing in the smell of it.
So to win a bag of the new Lavender World's Best Litter, leave a comment and tell me what your kitty's favorite smell is. Tuna? Fancy Feast? Catnip (is this one a given)?
Every comment is an entry to win! All entries must be received by midnight EST, Tuesday, June 28.
Just to be fair, I gotta tell you that World's Best did give us a few bags to try for free, but they aren't paying us or anything. All of this up there is me, Pimp and Moo's honest opinion of it. Good luck!
My kitteh's favorite scent is whatever footwear he removes and leaves out in the middle of the room!

ReplyDeleteThat should have said she sits in front of the micro while it's popping for the smell and sounds of popcorn get her jumping!
ReplyDeleteMy socks, apparently. I come home every day after work, and find one in the middle of the living room, or on the stairs, or in the upstairs hallway, well, you get it.

ReplyDeleteGiant Pirate Brady loves valerian root, like waaay more than catnip. Sofie loves the smell of dried pothos leaves.
ReplyDelete2 things. One is deli ham. I can barely get the container open before my Calvin runs in. The other if you can believe it is cold water! I put a glass on the table and he runs right over to lick the glass. I still can't figure out how he knows!

ReplyDeleteMy mini kitty, Munchkin, loves shrimp! She grabs one, plays with it, bats it on the floor, rolls around on it and then, finally, nibbles on it until it's in tiny pieces. She leaves the pieces for her best kitty friend, Mikey, who gobbles it down, then looks for more!
ReplyDeleteMy kittens love the smell of proscuitto. I can't sneak a taste without having them perk up and follow me around.
ReplyDeleteMy cat loves the smell of salmon and crab. She's usually well behaved, but when those two dishes are on the table she will jump into one's lap and stare at the plate. She'll slowly inch herself closer until she grabs a piece or you put her back on the floor.
ReplyDeletemy fat cat (Mittens) is a freak ... she likes armpit smell in dirty shirts. the worst though is when i flop down for a mid-yard work break with my arms over my head, close my eyes and all of a sudden have whiskers and sniffing in my pit. totally ruins the relaxation... my other girl (Meimei) likes my husbands pillow and my hair products... my cats are odd.
ReplyDeleteAll four of mine love tuna of course ... my youngest, Finn also loves pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteAnything fishy...which I hate, so perhaps he's just tormenting me.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be apples and cinamon. Any air freshner that is put out of this fragrance needs to be placed in a cat proof area, otherwise it is shredded. Any other fragrance, no problem.
ReplyDeleteMy kitty loves the smell of any food! But she does come running even faster for shrimp! And we both love your cat litter!!!!!
ReplyDeletestormy loves the smell of her daddys stinky shoes!!! she lies down next to a big sneaker and plops her head right in.

ReplyDeleteTwo of our cats Buzz and Dragon just love the smell of Icey hot eveytime my husband aplys it to his knee the cats come running and start rolling in the carpet.
ReplyDeleteBacon and chicken! Of course, any can that is being opened also requires the 6 cats to line up in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteMy cats love the smell the smell of valerian root. They also love the smell of steeped catnip. When they were kittens we were living in an apartment building in NYC where roaches were really prevalent. After researching environmentally and pet friendly ways to get rid of roaches I found an article that said some strains of roaches HATE the smell of catnip. I called my boyfriend, told him to steep a 12 oz bottle of dry catnip and then when it's boiled down we'd spray everywhere we saw roaches. I got home and could pretty much smell the catnip in the hallway. I opened the door, saw the steeping catnip on the stove, a boyfriend totally unaware of the chaos at his feet while cutting veggies, and 3 kittens high as kites. These little babies were braying, crying, going in circles, running into cabinets and swinging at each other, falling down, rubbing against each other - it was like they were on a feline version of exctasy. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time. They're addicts for sure now and don't just love to smell it but also love to eat it. There's never a boring moment with the bebes.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think that my male cat believes he is a dog. While trying to give our puppy treats of Pupperoni, My cat was trying to steal them from her. Then just sat there in front of me and waited til He got one.
ReplyDeleteToro loves the smell of my shoes at the end of the day. I kick off my shoes and he tries to shove his whole head into one!
ReplyDeleteWell catnip of course. One of my kitties loves to smell and rub against leather shoes. My other... hmmm... what is his favorite smell...? I guess food. ANY kind of food. A strange thing that I have found all/most kitties like the smell of is an area I have recently cleaned with bleach. Seems to have almost a catnip like effect. But of course I keep them away from any areas like that, especially since they show so much interest.

ReplyDeleteSaki's favorite smell is Breakfast cooking, eggs & bacon! Tsunami's favorite smell is literally Litter!...Worlds Best Cat litter, she actually eats it out of the litter box, maybe it's the corn smell she likes?...haven't tried the Lavender yet, maybe she won't eat that one. Kato's favorite smell is everything right now, we just got her 1 Week ago, & everything is new to her :-)
ReplyDeleteMy cat, Rudy loves the smell of my Peppermint/Plum foot lotion. He is all over me when I put it on.
ReplyDeleteWell, both of our adult kitties love the smell of beef. Whenever we have it, they both come running. Not for pork, chicken, or fish...but beef. Our kitty Remy (RIP) LOVED my husbands belly button. He would sit on my husbands lap facing his tummy, and do his little dance with his front paws, and the whole time he would have his nose in hubby's belly button. To this day, hubby will be sitting with one of the other cats on his lap, and say...do you remember when????
ReplyDeleteI have 18 cats at present and in general their favorite smell is definately cat nip and some love the odor of meat cooking. I have a one year old grey tabby that incessantly jumps at my neck and hangs onto me and begins to nurse on my neck...must like my smell!!!!
ReplyDeleteanything dairy! my cat can sniff my cheese or ice cream from anywhere in my house and he comes running! waiting for me to give him a taste!
ReplyDeleteMy cats favorite smell is my husbands cologne. I know it sounds weird but when he wears it...the cat wont leave him alone!
ReplyDeleteMy tripod, Wally, goes nuts over the smell of eggs and the smell of cheese. He will almost attack me trying to get to MY food if I am having eggs or cheese. It is so bad that I have to cook or chop up a little extra to give to him to be allowed to eat in peace. His love of cheese is what earned him the name Wallace but he is so sweet and cute, I just call him Wally.
ReplyDeleteMy big boy, MO, is not a fan of people food. What he rolls around in are my mom's old clothes. He just loved his gramma and they really bonded when she lived with us while she was fighting cancer. After she died, I would find her clothes tucked under couches and chairs and in his favorite bed, covered in his hair. I was throwing away a bag of her old nightgowns and he tore open the bag and slept in it for a week. It broke my heart.
ReplyDeleteMy kitties (Isabella and Martina) love the smell of mint. If I'm chewing gum or just brushed my teeth, they are in my face to get a whiff!

ReplyDeleteOther cats' back sides, chicken cooked or raw, deoderant on the human's underarm, tuna of course!
ReplyDeleteMy lil' girl (okay she's a 12-pounder), Tus, is my nip fanatic. She also loves the smell of my lemony bath gel and will pull towels and washcloths down from their hangers to roll around on them. I hope it the smell of the soap. She not very bright...it could be anything...
ReplyDeleteMy little Linny's favorite food in the morning is English Mufins with Land o Lakes spreadable butter with olive oil. She has hers in her bowl and I try to gobble mine down before she finishes hers!
ReplyDeleteWell, we love the smell of Mom cooking chicken. We line up under her feet and wait and wait and wait. It takes forever for it to cool. Hope we win the kitty litter. Thanks for having this.
ReplyDeleteRamses' absolute favorite thing to smell is my shoes, especially (mostly?) if they have just come in from outside. As soon as, if not before, I take them off, he is rubbing and rolling around on them. Then, he will squeeze his massive bulk onto them so that he is "guarding" them as his own. His two favorites are my snakeprint flip flops and my rubber mud boots. How does a cat lay on boots? By arranging them the way he wants them, of course!
ReplyDeleteIt weirded me out at first, but maybe I should be flattered instead?
My cats love the smell of a particular brand of odor removing spray. They love to roll around on the spot I've sprayed
ReplyDeleteOne of my kitty girls, Junie B. Jones, likes the smell of any people food. She won't taste it, but she checks it all out by sniffing it. The other gal, Lucille, loves the smell of catnip. They both like the smells of the outside world!
ReplyDeleteRoxy's favorite smell is Irish Spring soap. My husband uses it in the shower. When he's all dressed and ready to leave, she equates the yummy smell with belly rub time. She sprawls out on the bedroom chair and meows at him until he comes over to give her some belly time. She is SO smart!
ReplyDeleteMine love leather pocketbooks and plastic bags. I don't mind them rolling around on the handbags, but I have to keep plastic bags away from them if I don't want to find barf with pieces of shredded plastic in it.
ReplyDeleteOur cat Harriet, Harrie for short, loves the smell of chicken in a can. She'll come running as soon as the first bit of the can is opened and it's a race between her and the pooch! Cats rule! So she always gets the first can to clean!
ReplyDeletechicken teriyaki: skeeter starts climbing up my legs the second i take it out of the broiler.
ReplyDeleteHi. My name is Emily. My cats name is Socks and my baby girl, may she R.I.P, her name was Denon, their favorite smell was Tuna. They went nuts over the smell over the smell of tuna!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Emily in Tempe, Az
Catnip..the all around favorite..close runners up are fish and chicken livers!
ReplyDeleteCotton Candy. YES, cotton candy! If I walk in the house with any at all she knows it and begs until I give her teensy weensy bites.
ReplyDeleteI have two cats and I have to say their favorite smell is catnip. The first runner up would be Friskies Salmon canned food.
ReplyDeleteMy cats LOVE the smell of my boyfriend's sweaty towel. They just go crazy rolling around and rubbing up against it before he washes it. His new nickname is "catnip".
ReplyDeleteOne of my kitties always shows up at dinnertime and begs like a dog. He usually gets a bit of chicken or fish for his trouble. But all three will go wild for the scent of catnip, even if it's just on me when I come in from the garden. They all come running when I yell, "Treats!"
ReplyDeleteOne of my cats does that. She sits and waits for me to take my shoes off.
ReplyDeleteMy cat loves pizza! She's always begging for some. Well, so do the pups! So everyone's happy with the Pizza pie! She also hates all types of fish cat food, which is odd, but loves chicken! Silly kitty!
ReplyDeleteFaraday says "ANY food smell!! ANYTHING AT ALL! No, reeeally! FOOOD! Bring it on!!"
ReplyDeleteOne of my cats, Ophelia, LOVES the smell of my boyfriend's work clothes. After he comes home and changes out of them she rolls all over them, fights with them, attacks, sneaks up on and eventually snuggles up and falls asleep in them. She also loves the smell of his hands when he gets home, he works at a car dealership in the shop so he's got all kinds of smells on his hands, and she just goes nuts when he puts his hands out to her. It's the cutest thing. My other cat Juno, all she cares about is the crack of the cat food can and belly rubs! :)
ReplyDeleteOur Tweety loves the smells of macaroni and cheese (but only for the cheese), cooking beef, Pringles Cheddar Cheese flavor chips (she has stolen one before), jasmine rice, our front screen door (which she licks), the top of my hubby's head (she LOVES to knead and "arrange" his hair) and my hands after I've put on Jergens aloe lotion (which she tries to lick off, but I never let her). She also likes to eat the regular WBCL when it's freshly put in the litter box. Maybe she wouldn't eat the lavender kind! ;P
ReplyDeleteJulius loves the smell of ham and bacon... I don't blame him. Queen Potato loves Kraft Mac & Cheese or thermal receipt paper.
ReplyDeletePepper is only 9wks old. And of course his favorite thing he like to smell is a clean box of Worlds Best Litter every morning!!
ReplyDeleteMy cat, Crys, loves the smell of tuna. He can be upstairs sleeping and in about 2 minutes after I open the can of tuna with a manual opener (not electric) he is begging at my feet. He is so predictable.
ReplyDeleteI used to think my cat's favorite smell was the aroma wafting from the kitchen when I cook chicken tenders - which she gets daily to supplement her very healthy grain free dry food. I cook a big batch all at once and her and I both eat on it for days. Recently, however, she has discovered the joys of catnip. And if I open the drawer where I stash it, she'll come running from whereever she is, even if she is in a deep sleep. She acts like a little Banshee trying to get to it - my sweet 'Chiara', furry catnip addict ;-).
ReplyDeleteTurkey! I think because I adopted Jack just four days before Thanksgiving - went to my brother's home for Thanksgiving, came home with left-over turkey, and gave some to Jack; hand-feeding him, and he kept begging for more! Now, whenever there is turkey, he comes running and begs - stands up on his hind legs, one front leg on the pull out cutting board under the counter, the other front leg reaching out for turkey ;)
ReplyDeleteOur kitty's favorite smell is eucalyptus. I both use Tiger Balm and/or Bengay frequently for my sore back, and Rico goes absolutely nuts! He runs from wherever he is, and hounds me incessantly, trying to lick through my shirt and get to the yumminess! If I'm laying down, I have to tuck the blanket under my back so he doesn't crawl underneath and lick the medicine. If I get up to move, he follows me, jumping and pawing at my back all the way! As a distraction, sometimes I hold a peppermint between my fingers for him, and he licks and licks at it... and then my fingers when it's mostly gone. It must be something about that minty smell. He likes it better than catnip!
ReplyDeleteIt'd have to be my tuna fish! Every time I think I'm gonna make myself a tuna fish sandwich and use the wall-mounted can opener, my kids come running from every part of the house before I even finish getting the can open! It definitely is their favorite : )
ReplyDeleteGracie loves the smell of tuna, Ed loves the smell of the plastic bags from Barnes & Noble (he licks them, too), and Gene loves the smell of food...any food. I think he'd even eat veggies.
ReplyDeleteOur kitty Tilly doesn't actually *eat* everyday human food (which leads us to believe that cat food must be something truly extraordinary), but she is always enticed by the smells of KFC extra-crispy chicken and most things chocolate.
ReplyDeleteMy kitty, Reggie's favorite smell is my hair after a shampoo. He climbs up and puts his face in my hair and makes "biscuits"
ReplyDeleteI have 4 cats. The first one is going to be age 15 in Sept and she really never displays an interest in a certain smell. Just having her own spot on the counter (so she can look down on the other 3, Mrs Queen Bee), with her food and water and her own litter box near by. She doesn't share anything. Then I have my 2nd cat who is small and petite and around age 4, he was a feral kitty that came to us almost 2 years ago and adapted to the domestic life quit well, except when it comes to raw foods. When I am cutting up raw meat I don't know where he comes from but he can smell it a mile away, will be there right beside you looking up with those eyes and begs just like a dog, then again he thinks he is a dog LOL. He is too cute. Then the other 2 boys are brothers that will be age 3 in Sept. One hates the smell of catnip and will run (he loves the smell of Dum Dum lollipops!) and the other will roll in catnip! But when you are cleaning out their litter box's (each cat has their own) you will find the 2 boys sitting in their empty box waiting for you to put in new fresh litter!! I don't think they care what it smells like, but sure do love having a fresh clean batch put in.
ReplyDeleteMy cat just knows when your opening a food can just by its sound. I'll open Tuna and he'll beg for some, either with Mayo & onion or plain. He doesn't mind. He'll get his on a paper plate and the scratching sound of his tounge makes me laugh at him like he's starving!
ReplyDeleteMy cats love the smell of my fuzzy blanket, and the feel to! LOL they will rub all over a "scent" and than paw and purr. I love it
ReplyDeleteAmy loves roses (especially to eat), but for Alexander it's definitely ahi, albacore and shrimp -- but Amy loves those scents, too!
ReplyDeleteMy kitties favorite smell is me!
ReplyDeleteAll of my three kitties love catnip, like most cats; but my middle girl, Tabitha, loves the "April-fresh" scent of clean laundry--she can't wait to jump in the laundry basket and roll around in the clean, fresh-smelling clothes!
ReplyDeleteMy Callie love spaghetti sauce , she loves to get her whiskers red !
ReplyDeleteCatnip definitely wins for my 5 cats! The one brought home from college, who lived behind the dumpster on-campus, loves broccoli and other vegetables, and rubs her face in them before she eats them!
ReplyDeleteMy Lizzie obviously loves catnip, but she also likes smelling my shoes. What she HATES is any citrus... she runs away if she smells orange on my fingers - tee hee. We use World's Best Cat Litter, but the green kind and it's pretty amazing so if it had lavendar in it it would make it out of this world!
ReplyDeleteOne of my cats (Dino) loves the smell of stinky shoes. Especially when I get home from the gym. The other is more generic (Daegan), he likes catnip. They both also like highlighters a lot...they may huff in their free time.
ReplyDeleteMy cat Nermal loves the smell of sardines! As much as he loves them, I do not love it when he gives me stinky kitty kisses afterwards! Yuck!
ReplyDeletePhoebe, 2 years old, loves the smell of taco meat cooking on the stove. She must have some south of the border genes!
ReplyDeleteMy cat, Jasmine likes the taste of shrimp.
ReplyDeleteMy kitty comes flying into the kitchen whenever anyone opens a can of tuna!
ReplyDeleteMy cat Snippy (17 years old!) loves the smell of tuna, ham and shoes!
ReplyDeleteArtemisia's favorite smell is scrambled eggs.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest cat's favorite smell is probably a mix between kettle-cooked barbeque chips and fresh popped popcorn. My other cat's favorite smell is the absence of dog!
ReplyDeleteMy babies love the smell of any meat cooking. They love home made food and think they have to eat the same food I do. I would love for them to lovetheLavender Litter. I try to find the best natural litter for them.
ReplyDeleteLittle Fiona loves her Daddy's shoes, work boots, sandals or sneakers, doesn't matter to her. She sticks her nose in and rolls around on them. Now Spike, he likes to sniff my popcorn and occasionally will steal a bite.
ReplyDeleteMy cat loves catnip and tuna.
ReplyDeleteI love this litter and can't wait to try it in lavender. My cat's favorite smell (besides each other's butts, alas) is tuna. Or steak. Or anything else I'm trying to eat without interference...

ReplyDeleteRaw chicken for little Minna, a recent vampire that has become very interested in raw meat. Her big, bossy stray adopted brother (Theo, in photo) is starting to consider eating raw chicken with her. We were sure that he was eating ducks in our neighborhood before we had him move in with us.
ReplyDeleteTai and Stormi both love the smell when I open a can of Kirkland Chicken to make chicken salad. I save the water off of it to add to their dry kibble. They love it! I bet they'd like the Lavender litter, too!
ReplyDeleteMy cats favorite smell is Dorito's chips. Both my cats (Daisy and Angie) know exactly when I open a bag of Doritos, because they run my direction and will not stop begging until I give them a tiny chip, broken up. Its strange what cats like, huh?
ReplyDeleteMy cats love chicken. They will tear through the trash looking for bones.

ReplyDeleteMarbles is my finicky cat. She just doesn't let on that she's interested in anything at all. They both use WBCL and would love to try the new lavender scented litter.

ReplyDeleteMy 8 cats love some or all of the following: Icy Hot/ Ben Gay, waffles with syrup, Cheetos, catnip, shoes, each others' butts, open windows, anything fishy, freshly-washed sheets. One of our cats loves plastic. Target doesn't carry WBC lavender scent, so I'm going to order some from Pet Food Direct and slowly mix it in with our WBC unscented.
ReplyDeleteOur boy Doobie licks plastic shopping bags too! He would do it all day if we let him. None of our other cats do that.
ReplyDeleteMy cats think Fancy Feast (any flavor) is the best thing around. However they also get a small amount of raw ground turkey, bison, chicken and beef as a treat on occasion. Looking forward to trying your litter, especially the lavender scent. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI keep a bowl of fresh catnip growing in the kitchen at all times. They love to rub their heads against it and to eat it occasionally. The female just walks over and smells it until lays down next to it and goes to sleep. ;) As far as cooking smells, anything with garlic seems to excite them and also steamed broccolli and chicken together. They go crazy...
ReplyDeleteMy cat's favorite smell is anything that I am eating :P
ReplyDeleteI'm very curious & would like to try this for my cat Gomez.
ReplyDeleteWe've have 4 large Maine Coon-mix rescue kitties and have been using the multi-cat World's Best Cat Litter for about 3 years. It's amazing! Adding lavender is just about the only way it could be improved!!! As for their favorite scent, it has to be what we call "chicken juice." Anytime I use canned chicken, we give them the water from the can and these normally laid-back, calm. easy-going cats are frenetic from the moment they sniff that first whiff until the bowls hit the floor. And then all you can hear is the lapping until everyone goes and finds their favorite spot to "sleep it off" just like Otis from Mayberry!
ReplyDeleteMy precious 16 yr old Clea loves my scent the best....She always lays right next to me... sleeps with me...and if I leave the room where we are sitting, she immediately finds me. She recently went blind and I'm sure that I am like her security blanket.
ReplyDeleteOne of my cats, loves Arby's Roast Beef and just about anything that I cook. She begs like a dog, and has big eyes that just cries out for any little nibble. The other two just go nuts for catnip. Bossy likes to snuggle in bed with me and gives me kisses, so I hope it is me that is just irresistable..
ReplyDeleteScarlett loves my clothes and shoes...I adopted her at a garage sale where she had got away from her mommie, so she's been with me so long now, I am her mommie
ReplyDeleteAlong the path of our favorite place to walk, there's a patch of grass that drive Vin CRAZY I wish I knew just what he's smelling . But every time he'll digg and roll around, and rub in in the spot. It's pretty funny.
