#16catroadtrip: It's Transport Day! 16 Cats Going 1,600 Miles!

It's transport day again. Our favorite kind of day! This weekend's fabulous road trip takes 16 lucky kitties all rescued from kill shelters all the way up to Maine!

We've got a bunch of mommas and their babies, a few babies with no mommas and one handsome black mancat named Samuel L. Catson who are all hitting the road, being driven to their new forever lives by a bunch of wonderful Cutehead drivers! Hurray!

It all started when our rescue friend, Stacey of Good Karma Pet Rescue, sent me a picture of an amazing black cat. He was a little rough looking, like he'd had bit of a hard life, but his eyes were soft and sweet and his head was enormous. I took one look at that picture and declared him Samuel L. Catson. I don't know why. I guess he looked like him.

This is the picture I got. How could we not help him?

I love big-head kitties! And black kitties! And the kitties that maybe no one would adopt! So I knew I had to help get him out. I also knew he needed to be wearing a beret and glasses like Samuel L. Jackson, so I took to the Cute's Facebook page and asked if any Cuteheads were good with Photoshop. Within minutes, we had this...

I had a feeling Samuel might test FIV+, so we asked the shelter to do it, and he did. No worries! That's not a big deal. But now I knew we needed to rescue him for sure, because that might give him less of a chance to get out. I reached out to our good friends at HART of Maine (they were a Santa Paws Drive shelter last year!), because I knew they might be able to take him in and they said yes. Yeah! Samuel was going to Maine!

Then we figured, hey, since we're going up there, we might as well fill up the car... So we decided to load it up with momma cats and their kittens!

Cat Poses in Front of the Mirror

Sox is completely mesmerized by herself in the mirror. But not in the usual cat-in-the-mirror way. She's doing all kinds of mime moves (like the slow paw wave... that's my favorite!) and trying to really figure the thing out.

Is that another cat there? Is it does the same thing I'm doing? Better stand up taller to get a closer look!

Maine Coon Sings Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Max likes to belt out a few tunes every now and then. Today he is serenading us with the ever-popular "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."

(I'm giggling to myself because I typed "litter" instead of "little" at first... I think we have a problem. Hehe.)

Two Cats Tuesday: Pimp's Friends and Moo Peeks Out

Happy Two Cats Tuesday, Cuteheads! Today Pimp wants to introduce you to his buddies and Moo can't wait for you to get home!

Pimp has had the same papasan chair since he was a baby, pretty much. This thing is almost 14 years old, and I can't get rid of it (ever) because he loves it. And it's not just the chair... it's the Taco Bell chihuahua and his stuff turkey in it.

And Moo did a cute thing this week -- as if he isn't always cute, right? I had the wood slats in the bedroom window open, and when I walked by on the way home one day, he was right there waiting for me! His little pink nose was peeking out the window!

Oh hai, Mommy!

Puppy Learns to Play Catch (and Needs to Keep Practicing)

Pacino is learning how to play catch today! It's simple, right? His mom holds the stuffed bone, counts down... and gently tosses it to him!

And then he tries really hard to catch it and just crumbles from the effort. Cutest little fail ever.


P.S. Just two little drivers needed to get our transport kitties to their safe rescue next weekend! Help, help, help! Especially with the Jacksonville leg -- we have no backup plan there!

Anakin the Two-Legged Cat Conquers Huge Cat Tree!

Anakin the two-legged cat is nothing short of the cutest miracle there ever was. He was born with no back legs... but that doesn't stop him from scaling the biggest, baddest cat tower any kitty has ever seen!

His mom says he likes to sleep on the high perches, and even jumps down all the time with no fear at all!


P.S. Our transport is now NEXT weekend. The kitties needed an extra week to get over some little sickies. We still need help with a couple legs:
