I got these beautiful pictures in an email and wanted to share...

This is a awww-inspiring story of how a deer and a wild rabbit came to love each other and be best friends. You see, the fawn was rescued after its mother was hit by a car and killed. The rescuers brought him to be bottle-fed and cared for until it became big and strong.

The deer was lonely without other deer around to play with, until a wild rabbit showed up one day. The two stayed at a safe distance for a while at first, but then became comfortable with each other and eventually grew such a tight bond that they were rarely seen apart.

Here are the pictures from the email. They're taken by a woman named Tanja Askani, and her Web site is where I got the story to go with the pictures.

They're beautiful, and I love nature for providing such perfect and sweet stories...

Simon is a clown's worst nightmare -- he's as fierce a balloon-popper as they come! In fact, he can kill 74 evil balloons in less than a minute.

The cute part is that he's clearly been trained to do this. It's a special skill, no doubt, that his owners cultivate regularly by setting up "palates" of balloons and cheer him on as he unleashes a fury on them.

Silly Fun: Build a Squid!

Got a few minutes to waste? Build a squid!

I'm not exactly sure what the point of this thing is, but it's a delightful find. To make your squid, you get to pick everything from its body shape and color to its eyeball googliness. Then you give him a nice squishy squid name (I named mine Squishy in a feverish bout of unoriginality) and set him free!

Then you can come back whenever to check up on your squid and see what he's been up to. It's cute, in a who-thinks-of-these-things kind of way.

Bailey should have been a reindeer, the way he frolics through the snow like this! I bet if Santa saw this video, he's want him to help pull his sleigh.

The snow is piled higher than he is tall, but he's just bouncing and prancing like the happiest Dalmatian there ever was. Which is all the more cute to me, because I've never seen snow...

Here's Moo. He's udder-ly fabulous. He showed up on my front porch a couple days ago, and hasn't left since.

He hangs out on my back porch now (that's where I'm feeding him since it's safer away from the street). I put a towel on my Adirondack chair and he's made himself right at home back there...

Moo really is the cutest, most friendly thing. Check out his little spotted sweetness in the video down there.

Today's cute pet spotlight is Tuscany, the fabulous Christmas Elf!

Festive little Tuscany (well, I use the term little loosely) actually had an entire Christmas fashion show when this picture was taken, also trying on Santa hat and a pair of reindeer antlers... lucky her! Just look how happy she is with the whole situation...

Tuscany is very loyal to one special toy: Mousey the little mouse. Every night, she takes Mousey to bed with her, and every morning, Mousey ends up in her food or water bowl (apparently he gets hungry, too). Mousey has a few hiding places, but Tuscany's mom and dad are very good at finding him each night before bed -- and the whole cycle starts again.

So... I was googling to answer a great debate I was having with myself for my last post about whether it was "doggie" or "doggy" -- and these cute doggie cookies came up in the results! Natually, I clicked for a better look.

I'm not exactly sure about the recipe (it's in grams and crazy units like that), but wouldn't these be precious to make? Right now, I think they're fun to just look at, but I'll keep you posted if I actually Betty-Crocker them myself.

If I ever got one of these (which, let's face it, I probably won't), I wonder what Pimp would do

a) Be scared of it and hide under the bed like a little fraidy cat.
b) "Get low" and investigate it until he's comfortable, then go for a ride.
c) Hop on for a ride, but crush it beneath his considerable girth.

Apparently, Furbys are for real.

Scientists and environmentalists and all those types are call them "pygmy tarsiers," but let's be real here: These primates look just like Furbys.

I got this in an email last week and it just cracked me right up.

The formula to calculate your pet tax refund is perfect and priceless, even figuring in a "Snookums Tax" (the number of nicknames you have for your pet) and a "Piranha Credit" for the number of other household pets your pet has destroyed (if lizards and bugs were considered household pets, Pimp would make me a millionaire!).

I so wish this was real. I filled it out for fun and, according to my calculations, I should be getting a $6,290 refund...

A Sticky Situation: Cat vs. Tape

Before I get started here, let me sneak in a little disclaimer: While I did laugh out loud... by myself... several times... and even thought about "trying this at home," I would never do this to my own cat. However, there's nothing wrong with laughing at something that's already been done, right?

Now, that being said, THIS IS SO FUNNY! This guy puts tape on his cat, and the poor thing just doesn't know what to do. I mean, I knew the cat would probably walk funny (the first tape placed on his back results in what I call "getting low"), but I had no idea that it would get even better if you taped, say, the side of the cat.

Who said cat's aren't smart? I'd like to see a dog do this. This cat eats with a fork, and chopsticks, and even (wait for it...) a spork!

I have no earthly idea how someone could train their cat to eat like this. I know when I feed Pimp, it's everyone for themselves -- and got help you if accidentally keep a finger or your hand near the food bowl too long when dumping the kibble in... you might lose it.

I suspect a little trickery here, but either way, it really is amazing.

Saturday Morning Cartoons Flashback: Tigger!

The wonderful thing about Tiggers is that Tiggers are wonderful things! That's T-I-double guh-er!

Man, cartoons used to be so cool. What happened to Saturday morning cartoons? Now they're all Japanimated and real and violent... I was flipping through the stations a couple weeks ago and got SO EXCITED to see Inspector Gadget (now that's a cartoon!) -- and then I realized it was dubbed over in Spanish. Major bummer.

I miss Jem and Ducktails and the Smurfs and the Snorks... Oh well. Here's a flashback -- Tigger!

No really, I think that makes it even cuter, because of her little voice and the way she says the words. So much expression, so much enthusiasm, so much imagination.

It's a dramatic tales of hippos, monkey, witches and popotamuses (What is that?! No matter; I'm sure they're precious.) I love her and this is another example of how cute I imagine my future-child will be (Here's the other example.)

And it really is. Like one of those rubber chickens. Apparently, Percy the cute French bulldog sleeps like this all the time. There are TONS of videos of him sleeping.

First, I couldn't believe his owners had nothing better to do that video their dog sleeping -- and doesn't it get old? But then I realized I'd do the EXACT same thing.

Barack Makes Me Purr -- Obama Cat!

On the eve of the day I hopefully crack open a bottle of "change champagne," I took the obvious opportunity to dress up my dear cat, Pimp. Barack Obama makes him purr.

Also, you'll note that while he is clearly not happy, he is also clearly not as unhappy as he's been in other get-ups I've forced him to wear. This, by the way, is an Obama T-shirt I bought online that is about the most ill-fitted thing I've ever owned. I would have junked it by now, but it's just so damn cute. I mean, look at it... Baa-rock.

Besides, Pimp is an Obama Cat and he makes it look good. :)

Annual Blessing of the Animals at St. John's

How cute would this have been to go to? Every year, St. John's the Divine in New York has a service for the "blessing of the animals." Apparently other churches do this also, but the kicker with this one is that any animal is welcome...

When I saw it on the news, there was even an elephant in the audience! But mostly the pews were full of paws (I know, I know). Anyway, here's a video I found on YouTube of it:

I got home from work today and found Pimp lounging on the couch in the perfect lighting! The sun was going down and coming in the sliding glass doors right on him. He looked like a little king!

It's His 93rd Birthday!

Last night was my great uncle's 93rd birthday party. NINETY THREE YEARS OLD. Whoa.

So we celebrated, and as with every good celebration, you need cake (we heart cake). And with birthday cake comes Happy Birthday.

But, folks, this is not your average Happy Birthday. First of all, my great uncle is damn cute, and second of all, this is Happy Birthday, cuban style.

Grandma Eating Her Ice Cream Cone

The past couple weekends have been big birthdays for the fam, and since I figured out how to make my camera record videos, I have some cute little moments to share.

The first is my grandma eating an ice cream cone. Admittedly, the last time she ate an ice cream cone around us it was MUCH funnier, so I was hoping for some dripping and general silliness. Not so much, really. But she is darn cute, and the ice cream was delicious.

I'm passing this on because I LOVE it. It's a cat theme you can download if you use Firefox as your browser (and if you don't use it, you can get that for free, too.) Anywhos, it's KITTIES! And they play with balls while your page loads, and a fishbowl shows up on the tab while it's coming up and even when a Web site is not found, it's still cute -- because paw prints show up instead of bullets on the list of reasons you went wrong.

Just got the email saying that the costume I ordered for Pimp from Target shipped! I can't wait to get it!

I dress him up every year, (No, he doesn't like it. Yes, I LOVE it.) He's been Elvis, a biker dude, a pumpkin, a pimp, a devil and probably more that I can't remember. Anyway, this year he's going to be a dinosaur. RARRRRRRR...

Look Who Came to Visit...

Sunday night I came home from a weekend away and this little cutie ran right up to me in the parking lot. I'd never seen him before and he was soooo friendly.

All rubs and purrs.

So of course I fed him. And watered him. And petted him outside my front door for 20 minutes even though it was late and I was tired. This poor kitty needed a little lovin.

Anyway, last night I was sitting on the couch and realized I hadn't seen Kitty Kitty all day (that's his/her name -- I haven't checked yet), so I went out in the parking lot and starting calling him, "Kitty Kitty... Kitty Kitty..." and he came!

I hope he's someone's outside kitty and he's not lost or abandoned. He's really such a friendly thing...
