Maru and His Little Sister, Hana!
Watch out, Maru... There's another cute cat in your house!
Maru got a little sister named Hana, and it appears that he's teaching her the ways of boxes and bags very early in life. He is good big brother.
I especially love their homemade box wall. You have to see that! What a great idea!
NOTE FROM CUTE: This week is the LAST WEEK to donate toys and treats to Santa Paws Drive! We need to get them shipped out in time for the shelter kitties and doggies to get them for Christmas. If you haven't yet, and if you can spare a few dollars, please consider donating a toy bundle or two. Thank you, Cuteheads!
P.P.S. Sweet Pea is going to the vet this morning. I just want to get her checked out to make sure she's all good (which I'm sure she is!). She has a big, round belly and I just want to make sure she doesn't have any worms or cooties or anything in there! She is meeting the vet we use for all our transport kitties, Dr. Simon in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and I'm excited that he can be her vet!

Maru Climbs a Ladder
We all know Maru is the master of going "in" things like boxes, but what about up stuff?
His short little legs are adorable as he carefully works to climb the ladder, but if you ask me, the way down is the cutest part. Just look at his cute toes feeling around for the rung below!

Cat Does a Lazy Maru Impression
You know the video where Maru flings himself across the floor and into a box, kind of tunneling through? This cat seems to be trying for that, but could definitely use a little more enthusiasm.
Maybe a bit more runway to get better speed? Or, if we really want to get nitty gritty, we could probably blame the humans... someone forgot to cut open the back end of the box!
For reference, here is the original Maru version. It's almost unfair to compare. Maru is a professional.

Maru Has a Pacifier?
Maru is one special cat. Why is it that everything he does is so cute? Here he is with what looks like a pacifier, just contentedly lying around with it in his mouth.
And here's the funny part: He is talking more with that thing in his mouth than I have every heard him meow in any of his other Maru videos!

Maru Making Biscuits and Purring!
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur.
Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr!
Well, Maru isn't exactly a little ball of fur, but you can hear him purring at the end of the video! I don't know if I've ever heard Maru purr before in his videos!
P.S. Cuteheads, please take a minute to head over and read my Catster post today. Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando had a great, model TNR program and now they've suddenly reversed their stance and are trapping their cared-for feral cats and sending them to a kill shelter. I'm horrified, and I hope you all will head over to see how we can help make a big stink and hopefully make them stop the madness!

Is This How They Trained Maru?
I saw this video and it got me thinking... Just how did Maru become such a skilled box cat? Was he trained to be? Was he just born an incredible kitten prodigy, able to conquer any box right out of the womb?
If he was taught, I'm thinking this video is probably how his training would have gone. And clearly this cat has a bright future!

The Ultimate Battle of the Boxes - Which Will Maru Choose?
One cat. Four boxes. The suspense is almost too much to handle.
Watch as Maru plays in the ultimate box battle game -- which one will he decide is the most cat-tastic? (Fun note: These boxes are all way smaller than he is...)
The game is played similar to any playoffs: Two boxes against each other, then the other two. The two winners compete against each other to get the title of Maru's favorite box!
If you ask me, this should be a real game show on TV. It'd totally tune in every week.

Maru's Christmas Stocking

Maru's Fresh Step Commercial!
Rumor had it that there was a Fresh Step commercial with Maru the box cat in it, but I had yet to see it... until now! I finally found it online, and am sharing it with you all in case you haven't seen it yet either.
Maru's Fresh Step commercial has a couple videos of Maru and his boxes and some other cute cat video viral favorites. How did a cat company not think of using videos like this before!? And Maru in a Fresh Step commercial about litter boxes (it's a box, right?)... purrfect!
Update 5/5/11: It looks like they had Maru's commercial video removed from YouTube. Bummer! Not to worry, though, here's the video where the clip in the commercial was taken from -- watch Maru and his big box action here!

Maru the Box Cat's Smallest Challenge Yet
Maru the box cat is at it again, and this time he is working on squeezing his plump self into the teeniest, tiniest, crampiest little box yet.
This cat's a pro, though. If any cat can scrunch himself (and actually look comfortable) in a box this small, Maru can! I especially like right around 1:40 in when you see the butt view... so much, um, cat butt to cram its way in. Hehe.

Cuteheads. It's MARU. Pretty sure he's the definition of "cute" if you look him up in Webster's Dictionary, but just in case you don't feel like doing research, this is what Cute's entry would be for it:

Kitty Jump Wind-Up (It's Maru!)
Now, I've seen many cats do this jump attack, but I'm not sure I've ever seen the technique Maru uses... Most cats and kittens get veeeery low and slowly ease into the butt wiggle action before making the pounce.
Maru, however, is more advanced. He add an extra step -- the Front Paw Curl. Watch and learn, kitties:

Cat in the Box Cat... with No Box?
This is the cat in the box cat that we all loooove, Maru. And he's back... and this time with no box.
No box, you say? That's just ridiculous! I know. It struck me as odd, too. This cat is always getting himself into something (even if it's not a box -- see his Bag on Head video!).
But now, here is is just looking cute. And you know what? I love this cat. I love in him a box or with a fox. In a bag or or on some shag... Anyway, you get the point. Cute loves Maru!

Big Cat, Big Box... Big Cute!
This is Maru -- the same cat from Cat in the Box fame. He's back at it with the boxes, but this time he's picked a bigger opponent.
For him, no box is too big or too small to get in. Where there's a will, there's a way... (and keep watching -- the funniest is part is him jumping out of the box).

I'd Rather Have a Bag on My Head
Maru's back (from the Cat in the Box video)... and he's at it again. This time, though, with a bag!
What's really cute is that he seems to prefer to have the bag on his head. It doesn't bother him one bit -- he walks all around the house comfortable and happy as can be. Cute kitty!
