Adorable Kitten Saved From Inside a House Wall

Valentino was abandoned by his mom and somehow fell in between the walls of a California home. He meowed and meowed for help, but the family couldn't pinpoint exactly where the meowing was coming from.

Finally, the meowing moved to the wall by the front hall, and they could clearly tell where it was coming from. Time was running out for little Valentino, so the family's dad grabbed a small saw blade and cut a hole in their wall.

And what they saw would have melted anyone's heart. There was Valentino, meowing loud and clear, no doubt happy to see them!

This was 16 months ago, and the happy update is that Valentino (now renamed Atticus) was adopted by another family and is doing great!

Thanks to Cute's fabulous friend Tamar from I Have Cat for passing this cute kitten video on!

P.S. Have you checked out Santa Paws Drive yet? It an annual all-online international toy drive I head up for shelter animals! This is our 5th year and I hope we can make it the best yet! Even one dollar helps!

Chunky Cat Swims Laps to Lose Weight

Holly the cat needs to lose weight. But at almost 20 pounds and 13 years old, she's pretty set in her ways. She doesn't care for toys or catnip or anything else a normal kitty would do to get more exercise... but she does love to swim laps!

Suited up in her life jacket (safety first!), she makes regular trips to the pool to swim her laps and get her exercise. And it doesn't look like it bothers her one bit!

She's got seven pounds to lose. I wonder how many laps that is?

Cat Accidentally Wanders Through Univision Weather Report

Today's weather looks mostly cloudy with a chance of cat butt. Or perhaps it's partly purry!

There are several cats that make the Univision TV station parking lot their home, and sometimes they stroll into the newsroom like they own the place (of course they do!).

This time, this cat made his way into the weather report, and somehow the reporter managed to keep going without even cracking a smile. How come this cute stuff never happens when I watch the news?!

BONUS CUTE: Here's another cat wandering into a weather report! (This reporter does not even try to ignore the kitty. Cute!)

Thanks to Cutehead Heidi for sending this cute Univision weather cat video in!

How to Read the Newspaper With Kittens

Anyone who has cats knows that one does not simply read the newspaper. Or a book. Or anything, really (I can't even read my iPad without Moo standing in front of it).

Here is a man reading the newspaper with his two 10-month-old kittens, Pip and Fritz. Does this kind of shenanigans look familiar to any of you?

NOTE FROM CUTE: Guess what? I start my new job today! I'll post more about it later, but I just wanted to let you know the good news. I'm excited about it, but I have no idea how Moo is going to deal with being by himself all day long now... He's been stuck to my side, or my lap, for weeks.

Man Rescues Cat Stuck in a Tree for Four Days

After a bad flood, a man noticed a poor cat stuck way at the top of a tree. He kept an eye on her, but she didn't come down. He tried to climb the tree once to help her, unsuccessfully, and had to think of a Plan B to help this kitty.

After four days of being stuck up there in bad weather, the man had his plan and was ready to put it in motion -- and he filmed the whole rescue!

My heart is truly warmed by this. There ARE nice people in the world! And after saving the scared and hungry cat, he kept her safe in his home with his other rescue kitty (and he's looking for permanent homes for them if anyone is interested!).

Watch the amazing rescue here:

Thanks to Cute's friend James for sharing this adorable cat rescued from a tree video!

Two Cats Tuesday: Moo for President!

Happy Two Cats Tuesday, Cuteheads! Today is a big day over here. Moo would like to officially announce his candidacy for president!

That's right... Moo for president! It was only a matter of time before we had our first cat president, and that time is now.

He even has a website: www.MooForPresident.com!

You would vote for me, right?

Moo will be campaigning and he hopes to have all of your support! He is running as part of the Cute Party, which I'm sure you are all proud members of. (You are, right?!)

We'll soon have badges you can add to your blogs, stickers, buttons, yard signs (OK, maybe not yard signs... but maybe!) and Moo will no doubt be making some statements and discussing the things he wants to accomplish as president (unlimited treats, TNR support, more boxes to sleep in, etc.).

In the meantime, you can "Like" his Moo for President Facebook page and follow him at @MooForPresident on Twitter!

Think this is a little crazy? We don't! Our cats rule over us anyway, so why not let them rule the country? It's only the next obvious step.

Here's a short statement from Moo:

"Oh, hi. My name is Moo and I'm running for President. My brother, Pimp, is going to be my running mate and together we plan to take over the world! (Oops, I mean, we plan to make this country -- and the world -- a much cuter place.) We're convinced that cute is the cure for all the mess out there lately. I hope you'll support me!"

We're super excited about Moo doing this, and have lots of fun and exciting things planned!

Don't forget to check out www.MooForPresident.com!

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Can a lion, a tiger and a bear be friends? How about best friends? You wouldn't think so, but check out this cute, amazing story I got in an email yesterday...

They make an unlikely trio, but Baloo the bear, Leo the lion and Shere Khan the tiger have forged an unusually strong bond. Considering that they would be mortal enemies if they ever were to meet in the wild, it is stunning to see their unique and genuine friendship in these intimate pictures.

Rescued eight years ago during a police drug raid in Atlanta, Georgia, the three friends were only cubs at the time at barely two months old.

They had been kept as status symbol pets by the drug barons.

Delivered to the Noah's Ark Animal Rescue Center in Locust Grove, Georgia the decision was made to keep the youngsters together, because of their budding rapport. "We could have separated them, but since they came as a kind of family, the zoo decided to keep them together," said Diane Smith, assistant director, of Noah's Ark. "To our knowledge, this is the only place where you'll find this combination of animals together."

Living with the zoo's founders for the past eight years, Shere Khan, Baloo and Leo have now moved to a purpose-built habitat where the U.S. public can now witness first hand their touching relationships.

"We didn't have the money to move them at first," said Diane. "Now their habitat is sorted and they have been moved away from the children's zoo areas where the public couldn't really get a good look. It is possible to see Baloo, who is a 1,000-lb bear; Shere Khan, a 350-lb tiger; and Leo, who is also 350 lbs, messing around like brothers. They are totally oblivious to the fact that in any other circumstance they would not be friends."

Handled by Charles and Jama Hedgecoth, the zoo's owners and founders, the three friendly giants appear to have no comprehension of their animal differences.

"Baloo and Shere Khan are very close," says Diane. "That is because they rise early, and as Leo is a lion, he likes to spend most of the day sleeping. It is wonderful and magical to see a giant American Black Bear put his arm around a Bengal and then to see the tiger nuzzle up to the bear like a domestic cat. When Leo wakes up the three of them mess around for most of the day before they settle down to some food."

Surprisingly for three apex predators with the power to kill with a single bite or swipe of a paw, they are very relaxed around each other. "They eat, sleep and play together," said Jama. "As they treat each other as siblings they will lie on top of each other for heat and simply for affection."

"At the moment they are getting used to their new habitat. Shere Khan is being quite reticent about the move, but Baloo, the bear, is very good at leading him on and making him feel comfortable and safe."

Explaining that the three "brothers" have always seemed to share a unique bond, Charles said: "Noah's Ark is their home and they could not possibly be separated from each other. You just have to remember who you're dealing with when you are with them. It's when you forget that these fellows are wild animals that you get yourself in trouble."

The trio's new habitat had to be constructed carefully, in order to accommodate its occupants. Jama said: "The clubhouse had to be very sturdy for the guys, because they all sleep in it together. We had to include a creek, because the tiger and the bear both like to be in water."

Big Dog Adopts Cute Little Piggy

Don't you just love stories about amazing momma animals who take in completely mismatched little babies?

This latest one is a story Katjinga, an 8-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback who has just finished nursing her little of puppies. Katjinga's mom noticed an abandoned piggy and quickly brought it in before any mean wildlife found it...

And Katjinga took over from there! They've named the piggy Paulinchen, but we'll just call him Pinky (even though he's not a pink pig). :)

Pictures from the Daily Mail.

World's Ugliest Dog Winner 2009

The annual World's Ugliest Dog competition was held Friday at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif. Tons of, um, cute contestants competed -- and here are some of the big World's Ugliest Dog winners for 2009.

Honestly, I think the winner is actually really, really cute!

Here's Pabst, a 4-year-old boxer mix -- he was crowned the 2009 World's Ugliest Dog winner!

I think Pabst is smiling in this one...

And this lovely lady down here is Miss Millie. She's a Chinese-crested (they always win... wonder why) who took first place in the Pedigree category. I wonder who does her hair?

What do you think of these World's Ugliest Dog winners? Personally, I love this competition. It's so nice to give these special cuties a chance to shine, too!

Man Rescues Daring Baby Duckies (a must see!)

All news should be like this! No more bad news -- just all brave baby ducky rescues all day.

This is officially one of my favorite news stories ever: A man noticed a mommy duck making her nest in his 2nd-story office ledge. She was cute to watch... and then the duckies hatched and couldn't hop down to try and get to the water.

He watched from his office as one of the babies leapt to the ground below (and made it, but only have scaring him by laying motionless for a few seconds). And then he knew what he had to do. He rushed downstairs and caught every single one of those baby ducks as they jumped down to their mommy duck below... All nine of them!

And then he and his coworkers ushered the mommy ducky and her babies safely down the street to the water -- blocks away!

You MUST watch the video of it happening! This is my "I love people" moment of the week. I love this man for helping these duckies!

Unfortunately, I couldn't embed the video, so you'll have to go to where I first saw it. Watch the entire baby ducky rescue here: http://youtu.be/VAqWC3Cpny8

Jack the Cat Goes on a Crime Spree!

Uh oh. Everybody better keep a close eye on their panties and shorts... Jack the cat seems to have a small stealing fetish!

I'm not sure what's worse -- that Jack is stealing all this stuff or that his owner is hanging it all out for everyone to see. Hey, are those your boxers?

(We kind of forgive him, though, cause he's cute.)

Saving the Earth is Cute: Go Dark for Earth Hour Today!

Just wanted to spread the word about Earth Hour today, March 28. The goal is for everyone to turn off their lights at 8:30 p.m. their local time. Businesses and individuals are encouraged to join in... Turn off your lights and any unnecessary electrics between 8:30 and 9:30 and do your part to help.

Your Daily Cute is doing our part -- we won't be putting up any new posts during that our, our local time (Eastern Standard Time), and we encourage all our readers to participate in Earth Hour, too.

In the meantime, here's a kitty that seems to be participating. Cute kitty in the dark!

We Love This (Not So) Crazy Cat Lady!

This amazing woman has rescued 136 cats, and her world revolves around them. I love people with so much love for animals...

My first reaction was, "Oh great, another cat-hoarding crazy woman," but, no! She's so not. Looking at these kitties, they're all well-fed (Some maybe too fed -- chunky kitties!), they are happy, friendly, she spends time with them... and way more money that I can even imagine taking care of them.

I love her, and her story. Cute kitties!

World's Ugliest Cat?

This is "Ugly Bat Boy" -- he lives in a veterinary hospital in New Hampshire, and he's so ugly he's cute. He was adopted by the vet here and, for obvious reasons, has become the star of the place.

Personally, I would have named him Austin Powers (what with all that chest hair), but I can see the Bat Boy thing, too. Check him out!

Christian the Lion: New News!!

Oh, people... I'm so excited about this one! I just got an email from Amazon saying that there's a book about Christian the Lion coming out!

It's for young readers, but I don't care. I'll still get it -- this is one of the most heart-warming, sweetest stories I've ever heard.

Here's the Christian the Lion video that got me loving him so long ago...

Cat Shows Reporter Who's Boss

No cats were harmed in the filming of this report... we can't say the same for humans.

It goes to show, though, cats know. After the, um, incident, the woman says, "I'm not a cat person." We can tell, lady. And so does the cat.

The moral of the story: Be a cat person or face the consequences. ;)

Pet Oscars: Animals on the Red Carpet

If you get bored with the real Oscars on TV tonight...

I love this little Oscar Red Carpet spoof! Pawnelope Cruz, Nicole Kittyman and -- Ooh! Ooh! There's Brad Pitbull (swoon).

18 Dalmatian Puppies!

I will admit that I had a bit of a 101 Dalmatians fetish growing up. I had the movie, erasers, keychains, can't remember if I had a stuffed dalmatian, and when McDonald's featured them as Happy Meal toys... holy junk. I ate a Happy Meal for lunch every single day to collect the them all (I was 16 at the time, but it made me happy and that's the point right?).

So this little story put a huge smile on my face! There aren't quite 101 of them, but who's counting? What a cute bucket o' dalmatian pups!
