How to Introduce Two Cats Together (a Cute Play-by-Play!)

Getting a new kitten (and keeping the peace) can sometimes be a pretty big mission -- and every mission should have this cute and happy of an ending!

While I think these people got lucky with how well and how fast Shorty and Kodi got along, they do have some great points, and some super cute video to go with it!


P.S. If any of my three cats slept together like that, I think I'd probably lose it. It would be a miracle. Haha.

Baby Ducklings and Their Mother Cat

Momma cat has taken in three little ducklings to go with her baby kittens of her own, and she is trying so hard to be a good mom to them.

She tries to pick them up to put them back in the box (like she would a regular kitten), and she snuggles them and cleans them... It's just getting them to go to sleep when it's time for bed that is the tricky part.

Those crazy yellow kittens just won't listen!


P.S. Speaking of duckies, we lost our little kitten named Ducky last week. We pulled her from the shelter for our next transport (I went and picked her up myself!), and she sadly didn't make it. Foster mom noticed she was breathing heavy and very limp when she went to check on her, and rushed straight to the vet. The vet did all she could, but Ducky unfortunately didn't make it. "Fading kitten," the vet called it. Very sad.

We are so sad that Ducky had to leave us, but we want to make sure her brother and sister get the best life! We pulled Andi and Blaine from the shelter so she would have some friends (Ducky was alone there), and they are going on our next transport still. We are hoping to raise the funds to get them speutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and also healthy (they are sneezing and congested, so we have them on medication now).

I made a small fundraiser for them. It covers their vetting an also a health certificate for each, that they need to legally travel. I put what each thing costs on the fundraiser. If you can spare a few dollars, Little Ducky's brother and sister would appreciate it! (9:35am: Yeah! Andi and Ducky are just over halfway to their goal of $210!)


P.P.S. If Andi and Blaine's fundraiser gets full, please consider donating to Binx, another transport kitty we are lining up. He has scabies (totally treatable, just icky!), and we are getting him healthy too. His fundraiser is below. (9:35am: Looks like Binx only needs $17 more! Wow!)

P.P.P.S. Pimp and Moo went to the vet this weekend. I'll report on their check-up tomorrow. Sheesh, those two have a few things going on with them!

P.P.P.P.S. Phantom has an appointment with the specialist this morning to see what is going on with his leg. I am very curious to see what she says, and hope there is something we can do for him! If not, I hope she says nothing bothers him and he's fine as is. :)

Cat Gives Guinea Pig a Bath

Angus the cat and Alice the guinea pig are an unlikely pair of best friends.

And not only are they best friends, but Angus helps out with caring for Alice. Alice does not like baths... except when it's Angus giving her one, kitty-licking style.

Cat and Dog Plot a Brilliant Escape From the Kitchen!

After coming home a few times to the kitchen door mysteriously being open and the cat and dog out, a camera was set up to catch whoever was doing it (and to see exactly what was happening!).

Turns out it was an escape plan by both the dog and the cat! Although if you ask me, the cat is clearly the brains behind this operation.

Skip to 1:40 if you want to see what they do to get out, but the actual hatching of the plan is pretty cute to watch too!


P.S. I'm assuming it's the rest of the house on the other side of that door, not the outside.

Crow Makes Friends with Nice Man and Won't Go Home

I would have loved to be this guy! What a sweet moment.

For some reason, this crow decided he really trusted this sweet man. He wouldn't leave him alone (and even hopped up on his lap!), and kept walking back up to him, even after the guy put him down all the way on the other side of the house a couple times.

The crow's parents were not too happy about his new friend, it seems. But little crow is really trying to convince them he's made a good friend. I'd have a hard time leaving the little guy after such a sweet showing of trust if it was me!

Bird Wakes Up His Best Friend... the Cat!

Happy Monday, Cuteheads! If it's a little tough to get going this morning, it's probably because you don't have a sweet birdie like this to help you wake up.

He wants his best buddy, the cat, to get up, but the kitty would rather hit the snooze button, stretch, roll over and go back to sleep for a few more minutes... Not gonna happen though, kitty. Birdie BFF is persisent.

Elephant and Dog Are Best Friends Who Love Playing in the Water!

Bubbles and Bella are the best of friends, and their favorite thing to do is splish-splash and play in the water together! Bella climbs on top of Bubbles and just launches herself off like a diving board. Tons of fun!

Bubbles was taken in by Myrtle Beach Safari after her parents were killed by ivory poachers. She was lucky and survived, and even luckier to have gotten to become friends with Bella!

Bella was abandoned on the property as a puppy by the contractor who they hired to build Bubbles a big pool. It must have been fate that they both love the water so much! Now they're just about inseparable.

Baby Raccoon vs. Big Dog

When Francis was just a baby raccoon, she sadly became and orphan. Some nice folks took her in and brought her back to their farm, to grow big and strong and be safe... and at the farm, she met her new best friend, Teddy the dog.

Francis thinks Teddy is her daddy, and the two of them like to play fight and wrestle all the time!

Maine Coon and Cockatoo are Best Friends

Cali the cockatoo just wants a little affection from her Maine Coon cat friend. She's practically begging for a kiss... something, anything!

And so when Jackson the cat finally breaks down and gives her a hug, the look on the cockatoo's face is absolutely priceless.

Baby Monkey vs. Kitten

Did you know baby monkeys play just like kittens? The run around and wrestle and all -- and this one gets to do it with his kitten friend!

Darwin the monkey was rejected by his mom, so he was being cared for at The Nile River Camp, in Bujagali, Uganda. They have a kitten there named Alley-Cat, and the two became fast friends!

Cat Walks the Dog Home

Ruti the cat is in charge of making sure her doggie brother gets home safe, so when it's time to go in from playing outside, she picks up his leash and walks him home.

She leads the way, gently tugging the leash and meowing when he lags behind, taking them all the way to their front door. And then she meows to announce when they get there, of course... I guess opening the door herself would have been too much to ask!

Cat Adopts and Nurses Baby Ducklings!

When two farmers in Ireland found three of their ducklings missing, they thought the worst. But then they did a little searching and found them nestled up to the neighborhood cat, trying to nurse alongside her kittens!

They originally assumed "The White Cat," as she is called, was to blame for the missing duckies... but they quickly realized she was just protecting them and making sure the had enough to eat. Look how cute and happy she is with her new birdie babies!


P.S. Unfortunately, I am reading some reports that duckies can't actually nurse, so they're just kind of copying what the kittens are doing -- but it still makes for a cute video!

Lion Visits a Doggie Dentist (and #HopperSimba Transport Day!)

Bonedigger the big lion needs his teeth cleaned, and his trusty dachshund dentist, Milo, is there at the ready to help get his teeth squeaky clean!

We all know how important your smile is, and even more important the bigger it is! I wonder how Milo learned to do this? I think he's a brave dog!


P.S. Today is another transport day! We have two kitties traveling through Florida on their way to their forever homes! I'm using hashtag #HopperSimba on Twitter to share along the way.

Simba is heading to Tampa today. His new mom is in Georgia, and he is getting a ride to Georgia from tomorrow. He is going to sleep over tonight at Cutehead Melissa W.'s house until tomorrow!

Simba was actually named Kitty at the shelter, and he was miserable. We also thought he was a "she" at first, and her name was going to be Nala. But then... surprise! It's a boy! He is going to a wonderful forever home.

Hopper is also from animal control here in Pompano, FL. He was a staff favorite and somehow was still there after two months (a miracle that he survived there that long, and crazy that no one fell in love with him in that time!). But Cutehead Kristie W. in Tallahassee saw his picture when I shared it on Facebook and fell in love! And one thing led to another... and he's on the way to her!

Hopper is heading to Live Oak, FL today to camp out with Cutehead Dusti M. until next Saturday, and then Kristie will pick him up from there next weekend!

Two more kitty lives saved! Thanks to today's Cutehead drivers, Carie P. (who fostered Hopper here!), Pam C., Linda L. and Diane L.! And thanks to Simba's awesome foster daddy, Kyle S., who fell in love with him, like I'm sure his new mom will. And, OF COURSE, huge thanks to our partner in rescue, Good Karma Pet Rescue, for getting them all vetted and out of the shelter to travel!

STOP EVERYTHING! Sloth and Cat Are Best Friends

Fair warning: There is a sloth in this video and he is loving on a cat. Your head might explode from the cute.

There, now that we have the disclaimer out of the way, let's get down to business: Prince the sloth loves Daisy, his best kitty friend. Prince loves to give Daisy chin skrithces and ear scratches and hug her and love her. Daisy isn't exactly sure how she feels about it, but it feels pretty good, so it seems like she's going with it.

Also, there is a cute sloth AND a cute cat together in this video. Just had to say that again. It's almost too much to comprehend, even for me.

Capybara Adopts Orphan Puppies

Cheesecake is a capybara who lives at Rocky Ridge Refuge in North Arkansas. When a littler of doxie puppies was abandoned, she took it upon herself to take them under her paw and keep them company and be their foster mommy!

Kitty hugs her human baby brother's chunky arm and nuzzles his face and neck and snuggles up to him to keep him warm. It's almost like she thinks he's another kitty... just with no fur.

Kitten Meets Hedgehog

Kitten Relaxing With a Bunch of Baby Chicks

Oh, you know... Just chillin' and relaxin' surrounded by a bunch of chicks. It's a rough life, but some boy's gotta do it, right?

Maybe the baby chicks are just all fuzzy and comfy, because this ginger kitten is super cuddled up with a ton of them. Clearly, he's quite the chick magnet!

Dog Adopts and Protects Abandoned Kitten

When a tiny stray kitten wandered near this dog's home, he immediately took it upon himself to protect the baby and make sure she was safe.

The dog would bark whenever he heard any loud noises (with the kitten safely underneath him) and let the kitty cuddle up and get warm between his paws.

I've said it a million times, but animals are the best, aren't they? No wonder we love them so much!


P.S. The video's owner said this is his brother's dog and unfortunately he wasn't allowed to keep the kitten. He hung out with the doggie for a few days, but then they gave it away to someone. Probably best. Kitty needed some vetting and loving! But at least the sweet dog did what he could. :)
