Sometimes dogs just get a little too excited. A little too hyper and a little too over-the-top. That's when you need a cat around to put them in their place.
Bonedigger the big lion needs his teeth cleaned, and his trusty dachshund dentist, Milo, is there at the ready to help get his teeth squeaky clean!
We all know how important your smile is, and even more important the bigger it is! I wonder how Milo learned to do this? I think he's a brave dog!
P.S. Today is another transport day! We have two kitties traveling through Florida on their way to their forever homes! I'm using hashtag #HopperSimba on Twitter to share along the way.
Simba is heading to Tampa today. His new mom is in Georgia, and he is getting a ride to Georgia from tomorrow. He is going to sleep over tonight at Cutehead Melissa W.'s house until tomorrow!
Simba was actually named Kitty at the shelter, and he was miserable. We also thought he was a "she" at first, and her name was going to be Nala. But then... surprise! It's a boy! He is going to a wonderful forever home.
Simba's sad shelter picture. His name was Kitty at the time. Of course we had to help!
Hopper is also from animal control here in Pompano, FL. He was a staff favorite and somehow was still there after two months (a miracle that he survived there that long, and crazy that no one fell in love with him in that time!). But Cutehead Kristie W. in Tallahassee saw his picture when I shared it on Facebook and fell in love! And one thing led to another... and he's on the way to her!
Hopper is heading to Live Oak, FL today to camp out with Cutehead Dusti M. until next Saturday, and then Kristie will pick him up from there next weekend!
Hopper, looking quite the gentleman at the shelter.
Two more kitty lives saved! Thanks to today's Cutehead drivers, Carie P. (who fostered Hopper here!), Pam C., Linda L. and Diane L.! And thanks to Simba's awesome foster daddy, Kyle S., who fell in love with him, like I'm sure his new mom will. And, OF COURSE, huge thanks to our partner in rescue, Good Karma Pet Rescue, for getting them all vetted and out of the shelter to travel!
Cheesecake is a capybara who lives at Rocky Ridge Refuge in North Arkansas. When a littler of doxie puppies was abandoned, she took it upon herself to take them under her paw and keep them company and be their foster mommy!
Aren't we a cute family?
See how they all pose for the camera? Adorable! Now watch them play!
P.S. So... we still need the same leg for our transport this weekend... and one other that I totally forgot about! Eek! If you can help drive, please fill out our form now!
SATURDAY, APRIL 6
Manning, SC to Fayetteville, NC
SUNDAY, APRIL 7
Milford, CT to South Kingstown, RI
OR
South Kingstown, RI to Boston, MA
(We have one person who could do either direction, so we need one of these filled.)
Oh hai. I'm Harry and I need a ride!
Here's Harry (he and his friends are named after Harry Potter characters!). He is a little scared, but getting better. He ended up at the shelter after someone found him. He's still so little, so we know he'll end up being a super cutie once he knows love!
You have to watch this little movie! It's the story of Uli and her mission to get better food. During the mission, she's advised by her two stuffed toys -- the weasel and the fox (you'll see when you watch; it makes more sense).
The weasel is like the devil on one shoulder and the fox is like the good guy.
Will Uli succeed in her mission to get better food? Or will she stay with regular weiner dog food?
It is taking every ounce of strength and willpower I have not to run out and get a little Dachshund after seeing this video. Iso is taking a bath... in slow motion.
Iso in slow mo is quite possibly the sweetest thing I've ever seen. I had no idea a bath could be so incredibly adorable. His expressions and his face are precious and the way he "swims" with his little feet -- even when he's not in the water... I melted.
P.S. You all know I'm dying to get a little miniature Dachshund, right? His name will be Frank. And one day, I'll get him a brother named Nathan. Don't steal my names. :)
Thanks to Daily Dog Scoop for sharing this cute Dachshund video!
Cuteheads, I've made an amazing discovery. As it turns out, the famous Sesame Street character, Snuffalufagus, is real! And to top it off, he's pink! See for yourself...
(Don't worry, little dachshund Lissi, we won't tell anyone it's just you in a sweater sleeve!)
Cuteheads, you know how I LOVE dachshunds! One day, one day...
But for the time being, I'll be happy watching cute videos of them like this! This little guy is so, so, so smart -- he grabs his blankie, nudges it over to his bed and actually tucks himself in!
P.S. More BlogPaws stuff: I'm a speaker at the "Be the Change You Want to See" session at 2:00. We'll be talking about all the great things you can do to make a difference in animals' lives, pawpawty stuff and more! Come by and say hi!
Let's pretend this is a regular-sized F-150... and let's pretend these are GIANT dachshunds...
If that's the case, I don't know what the person in the truck did, but he's really in for it with this herd of giant dachshunds after him like that! Woof!
First of all, it's a miniature dachshund, and we all KNOW how much I want one. Second, this lab is really walking his little buddy -- when he stops, his buddy stops. When he walks, they start walking again.
I got this cuteness in an email and just had to share!
"This Dachshund is fostering this little guy for another mom who couldn't take care of him. He had his eyes closed, but now they are open. He is just a little bigger than her other pups. She loves this little guy as much as the other puppies and she is nursing him back to health.
He is the cleanest pig-uppy ever because she licks him all the time. HIS NAME IS PINK..." (Awwww! Pink!)
I love all animals, we know this. I especially love cats, and when it comes to dogs, it's no secret that I'm partial to dachshunds...
Which is probably why I find this Wiener Dog Race so darn funny. First of all, they're all appropriately dressed. Second of all, they're wieners -- and aside from being a funny word, they are some pretty funny dogs.
Let me start off by saying that I love dachshunds. I want one. Always have for some reason. And when I get him, his name will be Frank. Frank doesn't know it yet, but I've already got big plans for him.
One of them may be be to hook him up with an automatic fetching machine like Jerry's.
Jerry is one lucky dachshund. His human daddy spent two years building this automatic fetching machine -- and look how fun it is! And how cool of Jerry to learn how to use it?!
