Cute Crusade: Senior Sera and Her Sister Chloe Need Our Help!

Happy Two Cats Tuesday, Cuteheads! Today we have something very important to do. We're on a mission to get two sweet sisters the best holiday present ever -- a real forever home!

Sera and Chloe are two sweet girls who were dumped at Pompano Animal Control, the kill shelter near me. They were part of 20 cats that someone surrendered (20!), and are the lucky ones who are still there looking for a home. (We're not talking about what happened to the others.)

This is the picture I first saw of Sera. What is it about it?
When I first saw Sera's picture, she really touched me for some reason. I share cats all the time, and hope for the best, but this one... I honestly thought that one more cat wouldn't be that bad and really, really thought about running down there to bust her out of that cage.

But then I thought for another minute, and knew that wasn't right (I'm already over my cat limit), so I shared her on Facebook. A fabulous friend of Cute immediately had the same reaction I did. What is it about this sweet 12-year-old cat's face that tugs at heartstrings so much?

She went a step farther than me, and decided she would adopt her. She truly didn't need another cat, but that face...

Chloe's nose looks like a little heart, doesn't it?
We were excited for a couple hours, until we learned Sera wasn't alone. Her sister, Chloe, was also sadly sitting at the shelter, and we couldn't just leave her there to meet what would certainly be her fate. But our friend couldn't take two.

What to do? Cuteheads, I'm telling you I really thought hard about this one. I have never done this before, but I just couldn't pull Sera out of that place and leave her sister there. Surely there is someone out there who can adopt them both! And if we didn't at least try... I know I'd really regret it. And I know if anyone can make this miracle happen, it's us!

So begged and pleaded and we found a place that Sera and Chloe could stay safe for a little bit without even having a definite home to go to -- but it is only for two weeks. They can't stay there, and I refuse to let them go back to the shelter.

What these two gorgeous girls need is someone who can give them a real forever home, forever.

They've both seen the vet. Sera is about 12 years old (a sweet, sweet old lady who deserves to live her golden years in a warm home) and Chloe is about 8 year old (a gorgeous, regal Maine Coon is really is friendly, but is just scared and out of her element right now).

Can we do this? Can we find them a home? Can one of you maybe open your heart and your home to these to girls?
Sera soaking up some love and Chloe wishing she had a home.
I have no idea who in the world could surrender cats this age after having them so long, but it happened, and now we need to show Sera and Chloe that there are wonderful people out there who truly want the best for them.

Will you help? Please share this post far and wide. We don't have much time.

If anyone is interested in Sera and Chloe, please email me at dorian (at) yourdailycute (dot) com. We can transport anywhere in the U.S.! I know we Cuteheads can work out their ride, all we need is a home for them to go to.

Is it yours?

P.S. Pimp and Moo took the day off to let Sera and Chloe be Two Cats Tuesday today. They'll be back next week, but they thought this was really important to. :)

  7. Elderly cats and dogs are dumped at the shelters every day. Why Why Why? What their owners don't seem to understand is that THEY TOO (the owners) are OLDER than they were when they first adopted those cats-- having a pet SHOULD REALLY be for better or for worse, in sickness and in health-- our PETS give us love every day -- FAR MORE than some of our human partners would do after 10 ror 12 years.

    1. in some cases the owners were elderly too and passed on. the families then dump the cats at shelters. its so sad but true. these kitties may not be dumped by their loving owner she or he may have died and here they are. make sure you leave directions and money to get your kitties into retirement sanctuarys or a no kill who will find them homes stipulated with a donation for their care while homes are found do not trust a family member will keep and care for them. i have personally seen many times those same family members lie and then drop them off at kill shelters. make sure your kitties and pups will find homes. or they will end up in trouble and their lives in danger!

  8. I wish I could take them but I am full up. Do they have to go as a pair? Or can they be separated?

  9. I would but i'm already sharing my 3 room cottage with 9 indoor only kitties,sorry.. :(

  10. If they can go together, that would be great since they know each other, but foster mom who has them temporarily right now says they don't seem super, super bonded, so they could really go separately if that helps find them homes. As long as they both get lucky. :)

  11. My heart is breaking. I will share these Beauties for sure and hope they find a loving forever home. Who knows why they were all surrendered. Perhaps they were seized because of the conditions they were kept in (having 20 cats is really not healthy), perhaps the owners couldn't take care of all of them. This is all Animal Hoarding stories. Out of control. People think they are doing right by the animals but it is just unrealistic. All animal deserve TLC and Vet care. This is a lesson to all to spay and neuter your pets and do not abandon them. They should count as family members. Good luck beautiful Sera and Chloe. Bless you.

  18. This is terrible for these two mature ladies. I played the video and when Sera cried out, my Jenny (an 11 1/2 year old Siamese/Maine Coon mix) really reacted - Siamese appear to be able to communicate even through the internet. I cannot adopt, first, because I am at my limit and, secondly, I live in Texas. But Jenny is pulling for her Siamese and Maine Coon relatives to find a home soon.

  19. Oh no! These beautiful girls do need a home to live their golden years in....this is distressing. I'm sorry I don't have friends in your area to contact and would so love them myself, but.......being limited and in Canada.....well! My prayers for Sera and Chloe - gorgeous felines.

  20. i do not know the reason dumped but could also besides a uncaring owner be the owner died and family dumped the kitties their family member loved a lot. this does happen a whole lot. would like to know why the others were put down abuse or illness or age. makes a difference in some ways but still dont agree with the killing. sharing im at my limit due to sandy in my neck of the woods. my town has limits im at it. wish i could help here too.
