Happy Three Cats Thursday, Cuteheads! We have some catching up to do!
First, check this out. Shhhh... No one tell them they are almost all touching! What an amazing site (coerced by the lure of delicious canned food, of course).
Pimp and Moo always eat there. I moved Phantom's plate over to join them because he kept trying to eat Pimp's food. So I just gave him more of his own. Piggy.
And now the update on Phantom's tail and the fur loss. Turns out that, like many of you suggested, he is allergic to fleas. So he got some antibiotics to get rid of the mild infection that was on his bare skin and we ordered Comfortis for the house to take care of the fleas. It's supposed to be the best. We used Revolution before, but I think our fleas are wearing gas masks and heavy armor -- I'm pretty sure they just laughed at it and kept on their merry way.
His furs seem to be growing back in, so that's great! Hopefully his tail will be lush and plush again soon.
And I also needed to update on the poop scoop (Only TMI if you don't have cats. We cat people talk poop, right?). Everyone's poop was horrible, but no tests showed anything, all fecals came back clear, and even the bloodwork was fabulous. A mysterious poop problem! So they all got a round of Panacur (much to Pimp's dismay; he hates any medicine), and all seems to be looking better. Paws crossed it stays that way!
So basically, Phantom brought in fleas and some poop issue that spread. Adopt shelter cats! ;)

ReplyDeleteIt's a three-cat flower! <3
ReplyDeleteI love that they are eating together,YAY!!!
ReplyDeleteDorian,I'm very happy all are doing well, and my Cooper had the same problem with being allergic to fleas.Since i had 10 kittiies to treat for the flea problem i used Capstar and Program.I loved these to products. The Program was a once month pill and the Capstar you can give every 24 hours (also pill) if necessary. One treats adult fleas and the other treats the eggs and larvae By the end of 3 months not one flea remained, and it probably could have been sooner than that but we kept giving them that for fear of them coming back. Its a 2 product system but they worked extremely well in case anyone is interested, I wouldn't use any liquid form that you put on the back of kitty's neck because mine are always grooming each other...
Ah, fleas! Those little buggers seem to adapt to any situation sooner or later. No matter what you use, they eventually develop an immunity to it. We've gone through several different products trying to keep up. With 10 cats and 3 dogs, there is bound to be exposure to fleas at some point even though the cats aren't allowed to roam outside. Glad you found something that is working (for the time being!). Also happy that the three of them seem to be getting along. I've found that my cats will tell me that they hate each other and act like rotten little brats when I'm looking, but when I'm not looking (or they think I'm not looking), they all cuddle up together on a chair. It's part of their plot to keep us humans guessing. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm terrified to use Comfortis after reading all the dangers and side effects......any chance the pooping is from that?
ReplyDeleteA kitty kaleidoscope! Or a kitty version of synchronized swimming! Like all those aerial shots in Esther Williams movies.
ReplyDeleteEver notice how those posters in the vet's office of fleas magnified like a million times look like every 50s horror movie monster that kept you up at night? Ditto bedbugs. Seriously, part of it is probably environmental: sandy places like Florida & San Diego are blessed with a kazillion varieties of sand fleas to add to the ubiquitous, horrible critters the rest of us have to fight. When I lived in San Diego, we did have to switch products periodically. Seems like the fleas do develop a tolerance.
Nope, they haven't taken it yet.
ReplyDeleteYou have three wonderful musceteers - instead of daggers they have their tails ! Hope Phanthom heals fast and that Panacur helps. Good luck !
ReplyDeleteSweet little perky cat ears. So cute! And so glad they're all happy!
ReplyDeleteThe cats look good glad you are back
