Hospital Collects Pictures of Cats for Cat-Loving Teen Cancer Patient

A couple weeks ago, Seattle Children's Hospital posted a story on their Facebook page about Maga, a cat-loving teen cancer patient who misses her own cat, Merry, very much.

Since they know how much she adores kitties, they came up with the sweetest plan ever. They put out an all-call for everyone to post pictures of their cats on their Facebook page -- so they could present them all to Maga to cheer her up.

Thousands of people responded (including many of you Cuteheads!) and this video is how they put it all together to show her. It is one of them most wonderful things I've ever seen.

UPDATE ON WENDY: Well, Wendy had to have one of her eyes removed Wednesday. The vets couldn't save it and they think she may have had a virus that started if off. It wasn't getting any circulation and there was nothing they could do. Here's the update from her amazing new mom, Marsha (who loves her very, very much whether she has one eye or two!):

"When I picked Wendy up at the vets after surgery yesterday, he mentioned she might have had some kind of viral infection under all this. I had them give her the shot for the antibiotics so I don't have to aggravate her more than necessary. She's getting pain meds 12 hours apart (in syringe form and bitter, but she's taking it (if not quite thrilled about it) and also antibiotic ointment for the good eye as a precautionary measure. She is such a sweet, loving girl - the staff who worked with her were very impressed ♥ That's my baby and I love her. I was a wreck til they called!! She had anesthesia pre-testing, but all surgeries have risks. Keeping her confined in one of my bathrooms and she is very happy, even with one eye. And, she gets a lot of visits. I exercise Chalse in the basement so far, away from the other cats. Hopefully, in time he'll adjust to them. So glad you all are saving more kitties ♥ (she continually gets the cone off her head, but doesn't seem to be bothering the stitches at all)"

I'll keep everyone posted. Let's all think good thoughts that she heals fast!

  6. Such a wonderful thing Your Daily Cute and Seattle Hospital did for this sweet young girl.  There are so many loving, caring people in this world.  This should be front page news - it would sure beat what our media calls news :)
And, thank you all for your thoughts for Wendy.  She is a trooper!!  She's giving me kitty kisses, kneading my lap and likes to bury her face in my elbow.

  7. Like is not enough for this. More like love. It was a beautiful idea, and the smile on that little girl's face was worth a million.

That being said, it might be a good idea for more hospitals to have the sound effect of a cat's purr playing in the rooms of cat lovers. Any cat lover knows that the sound of a cat purring is the most relaxing sound one can hear. :)

Best wishes to little Wendy. I hope she recovers! Thanks again to Marsha and all the cute heads that helped get those babies a forever home!

  15. VERY COOL! I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the photo I submitted (My beautiful blue eyed Pinky waving to the camera) but even though I didn't see her photo, I was thrilled to see how much Maga enjoyed the photos.
