ReplyDeleteInteresting, though. At the shelter where I volunteer, kittyboys get only a tiny, tiny cut and no sutures - it's microsurgery. The result is so minor that the boys wake up with, maybe, a little sore spot on their butts, but it's inconsequential and they don't bother it.
So, why did this kittyboy have a cone?
I've also heard, but not substantiated, that it's possible to do this microsurgery with merely a local anesthetic. However, the shelter where I work does surgery on ferals all the time, so I think they're just used to putting them out - briefly - so as to minimize bad reactions to people from the ferals. When they're just waking up, we have to put them back into their traps quick! before they realize they're being handled by a human.
Too cute and hilariously funny - but don't laugh at him! There is a possibility that he was a monorchid meaning they had to internally search for the 2nd unmature testicle. However, in the 2nd vid where he get the 'thing' off, and is playing, I do not see sutures. Usually males are a snip and stitch and then run like the wind without a problem - I've never had a cone on a male after neutering. Only females.
