THREE Cats Tuesday: Wait... What is This About a Third Cat?!

Happy Three Cats Tuesday, Cuteheads! Three cats, you ask? It's not just Pimp and Moo? Nope... there's a third cat in the house, folks.

And her name is Sweet Pea.

Before you get all excited, she's not a permanent resident (I'm fighting that single-with-three-cats tipping point with all it's worth, OK?), but she is getting really comfortable really fast.

But first, let's start out with the two heads of the household, Big Pimpin' and Maniac Moo! They did something different this week -- synchronized cat napping!

We are mirror images of each other... except stripes and spots.
And now on to miss Sweet Pea. As you may recall, I flew to Pittsburgh with her last week to see about a forever home for her. Unfortunately, it wasn't a perfect match and Pea is back at my house. Which is not a horrible thing, of course -- she's an absolute angel. But it does mean we'll be on the hunt for a new home for her again soon.

Sweet Pea lounging on the couch as if she's always had a couch to lounge on.
Sweet Pea is blowing me away with how immediately comfortable she is in the house. After being in a parking lot for 13 years, this is incredible! She gets on the couch, curls up and just purrs and purrs. She likes to give headbutts, have her belly rubbed and make biscuits on you. It's amazing!

She trusts me, so this was easy. She will need someone with patience and time so that she can learn to trust them too and come out of her shell. She will hide at first (so she needs a home with a place she can be with no hidey spots at first), but will purr when you reach in and pet her. She would also like a quiet place, with preferably no other cats or maybe another older, calm cat. I have no doubt she'll be an awesome cat for the right person -- preferably local to the South Florida area so we can check in on her.

Belly up!
Isn't she just gorgeous? Sweet Pea is the sweetest!

  3. Sweet Pea is a beauty. Reminds me so much of one of my kitties who has crossed the Bridge. My two furgirls would drive her crazy, so the best I can do is hope and pray you find her forever home soon.

  4. First let me just say how awesome you are, Dorian, for taking her to Pburg and then taking her back when you saw the fit wasn't right. I am really super happy that you always keep the kitties best interests first and foremost. Second, me and the boys are rooting for Pea to find her purrfect home and she will! I think of Little Meow and how she found her purrfect place and Ms. Pea will, too!!! Look forward to hearing more about her, she seems like an awesome kitty!!!

  6. Awww, I'm sorry her home didn't work out after all the traveling but I'm so glad you were aware & brought her back. She fits right in with you because she truly trusts you. I hope she finds the home she deserves very soon. Thank you for what you do. And I love the synchronized napping. They add such beauty to your room.

  7. what a cute little hidden white patch! I was thinking of her... until you said "needs to be only or with older cat". Definitely not my house! Is that what happened with the other home? She couldn't get along with the other cats. :-( finding a home for an only can't be easy.

  8. I'm sorry, but Sweet Pea belongs right where she is. Get used to it! Single with 2 cats or single with 3 cats--what's the big deal? I have lots of friends who were single with many cats and still found love and someone who loved their cats, too. Sweet Pea deserves to stay right there!

  9. Dorian...you are the best!!! You're right on top with how the kitties are feeling!! Love it!!! Sweet Pea is adorable and I can see she's fitting right in at your home. What do Pimp and Moo think about her? What does she think about them?? I know you will do what's best for her....! Good luck. Keep on doing all that amazing work for the kitties!!!

  10. This is so sweet. I after worry what might happen to my cat should something happen to me, and it warms my heart to know that there are people in the world who go the extra mile to save and house older cats.

Also, for those of you who have indoor-only cats, you may be interested in a product we just purchased and absolutely LOVE! It's called a "Kitty Peeper" and it's a screened in porch that fits in the window like an air conditioner. Our cat Nosey loves it. Here is there web site: http://catswithanaltitude.com

  11. So sorry that wonderful cutie Sweet Pea didn't fit into her planned new home. I just admire you Dorian but being so selfless and trusting your guts to know when there might have been a problem. I followed your stories about Sweet Pea and the other Parking lot kitties for years and am still amazed of what you can do with all your energy and love for those sweet homeless kitties. God bless you and Sweet Pea !

  15. She's beautiful!! If you ARE actually able to part with her, I hope she gets a super home! I find that black kitties are wonderful, and I can vouch for that from experience. How are Pimp and Moo doing with their room mate?

  16. I'm sorry it didn't work out for Sweat Pea, but she really does belong in FL with that bikini ;). Don't shoot me, but I really think she belongs with you.... Seems she picked you. OK I know. We can't keep them all. I hope she finds the perfect home soon. Someone is just waiting for her.

  17. Little Miss Pea is quite adorable! And, Dorian, everyone needs a black (almost) kitty! And that someone just might be you! What do your two think of that little miss?

  18. Just keep her! Three cats is not going overboard.

  19. I'm glad to hear Sweet Pea is doing well and I'm sure you'll find a perfect match for her soon! You could do "Three Cat Thursdays" for awhile until she finds her forever home!

  22. Girl.... you just can't send her away! Like you said yourself... SHE TRUSTS YOU!! I had a little one in this same situation and even though it's been years and I KNOW she got a good home... I still have that awful regret. She is home. You can tell. And there is nothing wrong with having three cats!! It makes it so that cat vote is never tied! Please keep her!

  23. PS - She is amazingly beautiful! her eyes are gorgous!

  24. Personally I'm a proud owner of 3 cats and don't think you have anything to worry about. When you meet the one your meant to be with, it's hard to deny nature especially when it comes to pets.

  25. I can't believe she was in a parking lot for 13 years and no one scooped her up to live a better life with warmth and love in a home. She looks so gentle and sweet. Dorian I know your heart is bursting for her. I want to say keep her, she looks so at home with you but for sure it is your decision and I know you will do what is best for beautiful Sweet Pea. Good luck to both of you. Lots of love. Xo
