Well, Heidi the cross-eyed opossum is so darn cute that I'm pretty sure she'll spur a whole bunch of converts from Team Icky to Team Cute! That's her Facebook profile picture over there on the right. (You should already know which team I'm on.)
She is a new part of the family at the Leipzig Zoo in Germany and doctors say Heidi's eyes are probably crossed because of genetics (her sister, Naira, is a little squinty, too!), but her vision impairment shouldn't bother her much. Opossums are nocturnal, so they "see" with their other senses!

BONUS CUTE: If you liked Heidi the cross-eyed opossum, check out this little baby opossum being fed his dinner! He dribbles a little...
Adorable!!!

ReplyDeleteI had an opossum under my step the other night - I didn't dare get close enought to check his eyes though.... Heidi is rather cute :)
ReplyDeleteI hate to be mean, but I really don't think Heidi is cute. I have had too many possums under my house or on my porch and they are really mean little devils.
ReplyDeleteM doesn't think Heidi is cute either cuz we have wild possums roaming around - in fact, they kind of scare M.
ReplyDeleteI've never been bothered by possums. I think they are cute.
ReplyDeleteI love oppossums! When I lived in Virginia we had a whole family of oppossums we fed and named. We called them our pets, but they were pets-through-the-back-door on the deck. Oh so cute!
ReplyDeletecute!
ReplyDeleteAn opossum's first line of defense is to play dead - yes, if that doesn't seem to be working, of course the must defend themselves ...
Her cross eyes almost look fake!! It is so weird!! I really don't think that possums are cute I opened my front door when I when I teenager and about had a heart attack because one was sitting on our log pile our porch.
ReplyDeletei don't love their tails...that's what seems to weird me out i think..
ReplyDeletei also learned something new today....i thought it started with a "p" not an "o"!
