#CaboodleCaravan: It's Transport Day - 14 Cats Headed to Happy Lives!

There's a whole caboodle of cats heading out today for their new lives -- and Cuteheads are helping every step of the way!

For this latest transport, we're giving a ride to 10 kittens and 4 adults cats. It's a whole carload, I tell you. Seven carriers in total! (If you see someone driving down the road with a car full of cat carriers, honk and wave hi... It's probably a Cutehead transporter!)

As usual, I have a favorite in this transport. I swear, I'd probably keep one from every group if I didn't have a pet limit at my condo. Good thing I do!

Me and Lestat. Look at his awesome cross-eyes and tongue!
Lestat is the coolest cat. He is a huge boy with the tiniest chirp of a meow. He is also incredibly timid and sweet, and just an all-around great catch. Someone is going to be very lucky to adopt him!

Lestat was surrendered at Broward Animal Control in Pompano with his three sisters. Apparently some guy's wife left him and the country, so he dumped their cats. The sweetest cats!

One got adopted right away, but his other two sisters, Callie and Smokey, we scooped up and rescued! Our amazing friends at Forever Home Feline Ranch said they'd take them in and find them real forever homes. Hurray!

Pretty Callie!
Then, the Ranch told us that they didn't have any adoptable kittens. No kittens?! We could fix that! So we asked our good friend, Wendy K., who we knew had just rescued some kittens from Miami Dade Animal Services if she had homes for them yet. She said no, so all of the sudden, all five of them had a place to go. Put on your cowboy hats, kitties, you're headed to the Ranch!

And then two adorable kittens popped up at animal control here. Can you guess what happened? They got their ticket to the Ranch, too!

Whiskers and Barry, sitting still for a rare second.
And then... (yup, there's more!)... We got word of three tiny black kittens at Gaston County Animal Shelter in North Carolina. They are a gas chamber shelter (booooo!) and so these tiny babies needed rescue fast.

Forever Home Feline Ranch to the rescue! We gave those babies their walking papers, got them all vetted and they are hopping in the car with us, too! They are being transported to Chattanoooga, TN today and will head out with the rest of the transport on Sunday.

One of the Easter kittens. I can't wait to see out-of-the-shelter pictures!
We named them Peep, Cadbury and Jellybean since it's almost Easter. How cute is that?

UPDATE: We got this picture of the Easter kittens busted out of the shelter this morning. How precious!
Speaking of Chattanooga, Cutehead Emily B. is hosting a sleepover for ALL of these cats tonight. Can you imagine how much fun that will be? The Florida cats will all end up at her house tonight and the North Carolina kittens will be there, too, and then she'll give them love and luxury tonight, and then pack them up and get them started on the rest of their journey first thing Sunday morning!

We've got an amazing team of drivers helping these lucky kitties this weekend, and we've had tons of help getting them ready to go before this, too.

We'll be using the Twitter hashtag #CaboodleCaravan to follow these kitties on their travels and sharing on Your Daily Cute's Facebook page as well, of course. Cheer on the kitties with us!

Huge thanks to our partner in rescue, Good Karma Pet Rescue, our amazing rescue vet, Dr. Seskus (he goes above and beyond!), our fosters and condo kitty caretakers, Maraly and Bob W. and Colleen F., condo donater, Nancy M., and all our drivers -- Karen A., Cheryl L., Sara M., Wendy K. (who also fostered!), Lisa B., Morgen P., Dana K., Shannon and Dixie, Laura N., Tia and Helen, Emily B. (kitty sleepover!), Laura and Cindy and Brenda B., who is also president of Forever Home Feline Ranch. Also, big thanks to Cheryl J, who is the Ranch's adoption coordinator and helps us save these babies! If I forgot someone, know I love you too!

P.S. We already know where we're going on our next transport -- up I-95 from Florida to Maine! If you can help drive, please volunteer by filling out our form here!

Wow! That's a whole clowder on the move!
I don't know how you pull off these transports, but it's amazing! We still can't complete one trip for two kitties to their new forever home.

  2. How old is Lestat? Does he do well with other kitties? I am in central Illinois and am about ready to flag down the caravan and catnap him - he looks like such a love!!! I have Pippen,a 4 yr old gentle giant orange tabby who is also timid, and Little Kitty who was a feral for at least 10 years before I coaxed her inside (took 3 years) and she is now somewhere between 18-20 yrs but still spry and active although she is also timid initially. My beloved Izzy kitty just passed from cancer 6 weeks ago =( Do you know if lestat is a lap kitty? THat is my main hope,

  3. p.s., you guys ROCK. Bless your hearts for caring so much and transferring all these furr babies so they have a better chance for their forever homes full of love and kibbles =) Thank you for all your hard work!

  4. Bless your hearts for all you do.

  5. you guys are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next thing you know, you will have your own airline! xoxo

  6. Oooh! That would be awesome, Caren! :)

  7. Shirley, Lestat is an AMAZING cat! He is 2 years old and is great with other cats. He had 3 sisters at the house he came from. He is gentle and sweet, and his a tiny chirp of a meow. He will let you hold him forever once you pick him up, but it takes him a little bit to get comfortable. I think he is just unsure and a little scared because he got dumped. I think he would be a lap cat, or at least a right-next-to-you-on-the-couch cat when he feels comfortable. We had him for a couple weeks, and there was such a difference after that time in all of their comfort levels. They were hiding in the kitchen cabinets the first couple days, and now they demand attention!

Here's Forever Home Feline Ranch's page if you want to reach out to them. These kitties will be there tomorrow night!

  8. I will get on that, Andrea! I need to to see if we can help.

I'll go look up my email today. <3

  9. Thank you, Sue! We have an amazing community here. Love love love!

  10. Dorian you and your fellow cuteheads are just wonderful!! I just love hearing about the kitties and the transports. Safe trips to all. Love you all!!!

  11. if anyone can do it, I am certain that YOU can! I just admire the hell out of you and all of you for all that you are doing! xoxo

  12. he sounds exactly what I am looking for.I am working very hard on my hubbie to get him to o.k. a 3rd cat. We just ran up over $3,000 in vet bills with our Izzy kitty who passed away in January and that is his main concern. He wants to get them paid off first but i am crossing my fingers that i can convince him! As far as you know lestat is healthy right? I love his tongue. Does he stick it out often? Wonder where his name came from? Thanks Dorian.

  13. Dorian, you are just the very best. What a special person you are. You are not only seeing the to the transport, but helping to find the kitties homes too. I wish every one well today with all the traveling. Tomorrow too.

  14. This is just awesome ♥ I'd love to take Lestat too if I wasn't at my limit - he's adorable, as they all are. I could be the old woman in the shoe with so many cats she didn't know what to do - but I can't afford to take care of them if I do that!! Praying for a safe trip for all involved - please keep us updated.

  15. Yes. He is a little snotty and sneezy from being sick from the shelter, but he is on meds and getting better. If you are interested, make sure you called Feline Ranch so they know! They are looking for homes. :)

I'm not sure if he does it often, but it's been out in 2 of his pictures! Silly boy.

He had a sister named Bella also, so I guess they were vampire fans. Bella is from Twilight and Lestat was one of the vampires from Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampires series -- remember? Tom Cruise played Lestat in the movie! :)

  16. sorry for all the ?'s but I am falling in love with the big guy. Pippen is 22 pounds. do you know if they are taking 72 to springfield? If so they are basically passing our house.. will he be o.k. do you think if he is not adopted with his sisters?

  17. does he just have a simple respiratory bug or something more serious?

  18. So...much...cuteness...head...exploding...

  19. No worries, questions are fine! You'd have to adopt him through Forever Home Feline Ranch. He is officially their kitty now. I am sure they have some sort of an application process, so it would be through them. He has to go there first, then from there they can adopt him!

He is just regular sick. A lot of shelter kitties get URIs and he just has the snots and sneezes. He is also stressed right now from the ride, poor baby. But go ahead and contact them! Once he gets there, you all can see if it works out. <3

  20. As a cat and also the new Pet King, on behalf of Brutus Davison and also Buffy Strauswski, I am very happy to hear that these 14 cats are being sent to new homes. Mocha is also happy about this. Jane Davison

Oh Dorian! Any help you could give on this would be amazing! Chrystal's computer died, so right now Jeanne of Random Felines is trying to work this out. Either of us can text Chrystal any questions though! Thank you!
I've been watching today's transport, looks like it's going well! Awesomeness!

  22. This is so wonderful, you are all so appreciated for your work to save kitties lives. You are making a big difference. Thank you!

  23. You are all so amazing. The work you do is awesome. We are sending many purrs and hugs!

  24. Yay for the kitties finding forever homes!

  25. Great! We are going to ask dad to help. But! Can you make sure the cats are not as cute at these! We have a full house!
    Meow! Kidding!
    Love you guys
