I just put up my Christmas tree. It is a little one with lots of character, and I think she's perfect. Her name is Stella. (I like to name everything.)
Moo's new favorite place to hang out is just behind and slightly underneath it. I'm sure you can see where I'm going here...
Stella is full of pretty, sparkly and shiny ornaments, or as Moo will likely think: cat toys.
Let's all guess how long this tree will go without Moo breaking an ornament! I'm not going to tell you how it went down last year, because that would be like insider trading or something and give you an unfair advantage.
Put your guess in the comments, and when one breaks, we'll see who is closest without going over. I'm not sure what the prize will be yet, but I'm sure I'll come up with something!
Haha! After the first Xmas w/ our kitties, my husband installed small eye bolts into the walls behind our tree spot for guy wires and we wire all the ornaments and light strings tightly onto the tree w/ fine wire. Most of it holds up fairly well for the duration. Most of it... LOL!
ReplyDelete3 Days and two hours and five minutes.
ReplyDeleteheh
The Farm cats are very bad with the tree here too. And then we goats get to eat it.
Did you know that Stella means Star? Which is appropriate for a Christmas Tree. My guess is 6 days.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I give it 3 hours.
ReplyDeleteLooks like there are "glass" ornaments on the tree. No too safe for the cats if they get broken.
ReplyDeleteWe gave up on even putting up a tree with our three cats...I'll give Moo 2 days and 5 hours.
ReplyDeleteI give it two hours, when you aren't there to watch them. They'll get extremely curious about one ornament, want to investigate, climb up *to* investigate, and *blam*!!! Tree on floor, knocked out!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI will guess 25 minutes!
ReplyDeleteHaving put up our tree 3 days ago and seen the result so far... I'll give it 4 hours!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking Moo is going to surprise everyone and leave the tree alone. No ball breakage....(come on Moo...be a good kitty and control yourself...)
ReplyDeleteMy tree has been up for 12 days now. I have white feathery birds all over it and this year tempted fate and put one on a bottom branch. So far, Banjo has been a good kitty and not touched them.
Hmmm.... knock on wood.... ;)
xo Catherine
I'm going with 4 days. And while the kitties might leave the tree alone, that darn tail has a way of knocking the ornaments down. My kitties like to drink the water out of the tree--ugh.
ReplyDeleteI'll give him two days.
ReplyDeleteI give it three weeks. My cats, Crash and Burn, like to sit under the tree and play Christmas present. They leave the tree alone.
ReplyDeleteOne day!!! Sorry Moo but I don't think you will be able to resist! the tree is extremely cute, as expected!!
ReplyDelete2 days, 4 hours & 33 minutes. :)
ReplyDelete1 hr 15 min hahaha!
ReplyDelete11/29 Noon
ReplyDeleteI'll give him 3 days 4pm. Every year we end up having a new baby around the tree it seems like. This year it's Raider. Raider is a VERY curious little guy. He's just over a year old now so he's still playful. Since we have a real tree it doesn't go up until the weeks prior to Christmas. We've already been talking about Raider taking the tree down before it's even up. We've only had one tree knocked over in all our years w/cats so we figures we've been pretty lucky so far, lol.
ReplyDelete5 days
ReplyDeleteTwo days, no more.
ReplyDeleteI gave my Christmas tree to my daughter this year, and I am going to decorate the mantel (and stick down the vases holding sparkly branches with ornaments with museum putty). And move the chair from which kitties can jump to the mantel if tempted!
She'll wait awhile and try to choose the one that is most expensive and will break into the most pieces. Probably about mid-afternoon on the 30th.
ReplyDeleteI think Moo will break an ornament on Saturday night!
ReplyDeleteYippeee!! I wood reck it in 10 minits, but Moo is a moovy star, so I bet 34 hrs!!! GO MOO!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow about 26.5 hours from the moment you said, ah, all done? :)
ReplyDeleteLois
I think he will break one by tonight, Tues night. So about 12 hours. Now if it was in our house with these two kittens, it would not be more than 30 seconds. Take care.
ReplyDeleteNow, are we talking the utter destruction of the ENTIRE tree, or bits and pieces. Because it could go either way, especially with a smaller tree.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is 3 days. While you are at work and will involve a "tree climbing" incident. At least that's how it happens at mine. LOL
ReplyDelete24 hours!
ReplyDelete19 hours and 13 minutes. i put bells on the tree limbs. if one kitty touches the tree the bell jingles and i can give warning to the offender. so far this has worked for 4 or 5 years. i hope they work this year too.
ReplyDeleteI guess 5 days. I stopped putting ornaments in the tree once Turbo decided that she was the only thing allowed to decorate it!
ReplyDeleteDaniela
I give it 55 minutes. I sure wouldn't be to secure w/those glass ornaments though, I know my kids would break one & then chew on the glass pieces, for sure. On CATSTER, one person had the most ingenious idea ever!! She said that she decorates her entire tree in just kitty toys. I think that is so incredibly brilliant that I'm starting a new life-time tradition this year by doing that. And then, Christmas morning, they can REALLY enjoy the Christmas spirit, by getting higher than kites on nip toys. However, since there will be an entire tree of them, I'll definitely have to hide most of them & bring them out gradually over the entire next year. So the holiday will continue to last....and last....and last. Just hope they won't need to join a 12-step nip-a-holic program by next December.
ReplyDeleteNot more than a day! Amy loves to bat the ornaments off the tree. I don't put any breakable ornaments on the tree at all and no icicles or garland, since that's so bad for cats who like to play with "sparkly" or dangling things. Alexander just likes to sit under the Catmas Tree, which is one giant Cat Toy!
ReplyDeleteHmmm.. 12 days?
ReplyDeleteI would like to think that Stella will last the Christmas season. Cats are very adept at going under the tree without breaking anything and I don't think Moo and Pimp are going to try climbing it at this stage of their life. Mine like to sit under it and just enjoy....they all did except when I had multi kittens and then it was fun. They have their beds very close, or under a wide branch. I also notice that you do not use 'tinsel' which is a good thing because you don't want them to ingest that. Good luck and I hope I'm right. I have a large tree (don't ask me why but it was a great deal a few years ago (about 7-7-1/2 ft.) LOL
ReplyDeleteI would guess about a week.
ReplyDeleteAt my house Mo likes to sit under the tree. Eli sleeps under the tree skirt. And I usually find Louie in the tree at least 3 times. I've learned to not put breakables on the lower branches. I also anchor my 7ft tree to the wall so it doesn't come tumbling over.
a week and 4 days.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty little tree, pretty cat too. I give it 4 days before it's attacked and stripped of anything that dangles.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Hope it is fun.
ReplyDeletealways fun to get a cat out of the tree. we had real ones
